Why are the trains going at such a high speed over the diamond compared to todays speed?
@NWORails
@NWORails 11 ай бұрын
It was probably a different styled diamond that was made for high-speed, it was replaced sometime in 2010s. Speed could of also been restricted due to it being in a town or from the derailments.

Wow. The glory days of the 90s. Thank you for posting. Part of me is still there. Thank so for showing the cars, not just the locomotives. So many vintage cars gone now. Wow. The difference 20 plus years makes.

It is interesting to note some of the changes to railroad technology since this was recorded. Note all the overhead wires and poles that don't exist any more. Some of the signals that have been upgraded. The tall radio tower that was erected nearby which has satellite connectivity for comms and positive train control, etc.

just wondering in the modern day since like with the Vermonter route which used to run to Canada but cut but to the US border like this one and since they're trying to restore service on that route. Do you think it makes sense to go through the work of restoring service from Chicago to Toronto? Rail wise it all there and safe and both Amtrak and via runs trains right up to the foot of the tunnel. Would the whole legal process be worth it? Cause I could see a charger and few superliners running the line
@TrinityCourtStudios
@TrinityCourtStudios 5 жыл бұрын
The demand for Chicago to Toronto rail service is absolutely there, the sticking points would be making sure they can improve the security/border patrol process to get passengers adequately and properly vetted before crossing the border. (And to make sure the process doesn’t take too long. That affects travel time for sure.) The only other big obstacle is politics; the current presidential administration probably wouldn’t want to consider this train coming back, despite it being at the border with Canada, not Mexico.
