it certainly could be if it won't shift. but it could also be a problem with the electronic shifting mechanism, those things have a lot of issues. you should check to see if it has a backup manual shifting shaft sticking off the side of the engine, you can put a wrench on that and see if it will change gears manually.

Mine sounded like something came loose inside that cover while running. Shut it off and fired it back up, no noise so I shifted into 1st, started off then shifted to 2nd the noise came back again much more violent. Shut it off,shifted to neutral and pushed in into the shop. Checked fluids and such. Shifted through gears with engine off, went back to neutral and started it up again. The noise was awful so I instantly shut it off. Thought it over a bit, killed fire to the coil so I could spin it over without it starting. It spun over maybe twice and locked down as if something is wedge in the case and possibly the shaft leading to the rotating assembly itself. Wish I had a way to spin engine over backwards to see if something could be dislodged. But it really doesn’t matter about that cause obviously it has to be taken apart. Maybe something has broken on the clutch assembly, a spring/bolt. 🤦♂️ idk. I’m no mechanic on atvs but fully capable of learning as I go. Thanks for the video, gives me a better understanding of what I can possibly expect. 👍🏼

Got the exact same mower and a few weeks ago it wouldn't hardly climb inclines. Drained and filled that tri-axle fluid and seemed to work a little better. Mowed the front yard today and completely stopped. Will go very slow in reverse. Pulled the drive belt and looks fine, maybe it's stretched and too loose?
@nybergsgarage2 ай бұрын
that's very possible. but also there could be something fatally wrong in the hydrostatic drive. hopefully nothing too complicated.
@devongroves7728Ай бұрын
Did you figure it out? Exact same problem here
@kennethdurbin3385Ай бұрын
@@devongroves7728I think it was the drive belt with mine. It works fine now with the new belt but a tad slow when going in reverse. I didn't flip mine over or mess with the tensioning spring like in the video when I swapped it out. I've mowed my 3 acre yard 4-5 times now with no issues.
@randyjohnson97073 ай бұрын
I would like to add after putting the new belt on it kept popping off. I finally realized my hydro transmission was missing a carriage bolt in the back mounting bracket causing instability. The bolts in the front area were also loose. Once getting the bolt replaced and everything tightened the belt has stayed put. In order to access these areas I had to remove both back tires.

Dumb question... Is there no gasket on the front cover? (Ok I watched more and answered my question) I think I overfilled it by about a quart of oil and ever since then i have to rev it way up to go anywhere. Could it be that easy to clean it up and put it back together and all be good? It was perfectly fine before I put too much oil in it.
@nybergsgarage4 ай бұрын
if overfilled oil is giving you problems, just pull the drain plug and let some out. also make sure you have the proper oil, since it's a wet clutch improper oil could lead to slipping problems.

What was the actual problem and what did you do to “fix” it? Difficult to see or hear what the issue was exactly.
@nybergsgarage4 ай бұрын
most likely the float was stuck, causing it to overfill and leak. after riding it a few months, though, the old gaskets finally got too dry rotted and it started leaking for need of new seals and gasketry so if we'd had that on hand when we filmed, we'd have certainly replaced it right away.
