Follow-up question, P25 has TCP/IP if I'm not mistaken. This is UDP/IP only, no TCP? No way of getting TCP?

The ICS-201 is used for the initial response before the IAPs are prepared for follow on operational periods. The 201 is not usually part of the IAP. It would be a good preliminary notice for announcing planned events.

I enjoyed viewing this session. One piece of ham test equipment not mentioned is an RF signal generator. The tinySA not only has that function but has AM, FM-N & FM-W. Much improved over the Eico and Heathkit RF generators I have used in the past. I’m not familiar with the Mini 1300, however the screenshot in your YT shows it has an RF signal generator function as well. I would like to know if it’s as good as the tinySA in that respect.

Excellent video, I remember when this happened. I have a 6 site simulcast system and remember seeing this 1970 issue. At first I thought it was a GPS problem with the GPS units I was using. I remember getting burned in the public safety space buy the GPS leap second issue a few years ago on older GPS units which caused an issue with several public safety simulcast systems. Thank you for the fix Dave, it saved our bacon!

What sort of range are you able to get with omni's? I guess first with a standard "rubber ducky" antenna and then maybe with a higher gain colinear antenna? Have you tried other directional antennas such as a Yagi or Moxon to see what sort of range can be had?

Such a beautiful setup but why did you choose to setup near a distribution power line (commercial power?) which is usually a noise generator.
@RockyMountainHamRadio3 жыл бұрын
It would be nice if there wasn't a power line, but it's very quiet and there is no load on this spur. We're lucky on that!
@Jerrythenerdful3 жыл бұрын
Many of the slot antenna on Internet and even QST are NOT slot antennas. People call them slot antennas, but they are not even remotely close to being a slot antenna. Some are nothing but bent up folded dipoles, they bear no resemblance to a slot, but somehow QST and others give these non-slots a pass. A slot antenna works, as you say, by exciting a sheet of current in a very large metal plane, such as a waveguide or an aircraft fuselage. If we do not have the large sheet or backplane, we do not have a slot. To be a slot antenna...it has to have a large sheet of current.

Funny I was thinking of a Slot antenna for 11m CB on truck just trying to get up to speed on antenna theory of slot just getting in to radios though I would start with CB. Was wondering if one were to take a closed loop of wire around a windshield in the gap around the glass as feed point and ground to body would that be like a slot antenna or a loop antenna? And would it even be feasible at 27MHz
@thomasmanson1119 Жыл бұрын
Antenna theory won’t help you much with Slot theory. They seem to contradict in most cases.

It's quite hard to do a presentation like this with 1 camera. It's live, and done on Zoom so there needs to be multiple cameras to show the whole story. We've tracked the video/audio issues down to a slow PC and have purchased a brand new fast computer to allow us to produce this live with no video or audio issues. We apologize for the bad video and promise to do better.
