How tough do you have to be to be a Gurkha band guy? Knew a guy that was a drum and bugle corps Marine who took a real ragging.

My Dad did 6 years in 2 Para and has an insane amount of respect for the Gurkhas. I have since done a lot of research into the regiment and will pass that respect on to my children. These men are something special.

The misspelling and mispronunciation of Gorakha in this video and comments by Brits is astounding. They were in Indian subcontinent for 200 years, and yet didn't learn (or care to) to say the word correctly. What's the excuse now in this age of internets. Gorakhas is derived from Gau (Cow) Rakshaks (protectors)- they literally got their names coz they are the protectors of cows.

Some of the most amazing men you will ever meet. Make a friend with a Gurka you have a friend for life. And theyre so much fun. A lot of mischief. They hide it well but if i have not had some riots with these lads.

why do this ppl plead their loyalty to colonial master?? it is better to serve to their own nation (nepal).
@AlexC-ou4ju28 күн бұрын
people can have multiple interests, for example many vichy ukrainian splease loyalty to their russian colonial masters bcause they believe that if russia wins they will be rewarded with power.

Don't be fooled by the somewhat comical quadruple time of the marching, or the uniform, or their smaller stature. The Gurkhas are the most feared regular infantry anywhere.
@BRH058725 күн бұрын
All light infantry the same. Their job - and it's a mark of pride - they can cover ground quicker than any other and fight at the end.
