The main problem about sewing straight isn’t actually the hand control, but the pedal control. It is hard to start sewing as the pedal is pressed. The balance between the pedal and the speed is the real problem. Those tricks are useless.

Thank you 🙂 the metal ring eventually (2 years later😂) broke the top off the zip so now, I am trying the elastic band method in the lower hole of the zip! Still way better than a zip replacement job.
