I own a house close to UVic and the area is a great place to live. I bought the house many years ago and wow has the market changed. If you are thinking about buying in the Victoria area I would recommend looking into how you can rent out part of your house to help make ends meet. I don’t know all of the latest rules that the various municipalities have, but people who want to own a home in the CRD should look carefully into the rules regarding suites. Even building an additional “tiny home” on a big lot might be an option. Good luck first-time home buyers and remember to carefully calculate how much interest you will be paying if you are considering a purchase!

Yes, a Bank of canada rate change does not necessarily mean that fixed rates will change. Fixed rates are tied to bond yields and can fluctuate all the time. Variable rates are tied to the Bank of Canada policy rate. Thanks for your comment. Have a great week.😃

I so enjoy listening to your videos on moving to Victoria. I am in the process of purchasing a small condo in Fairfield near my daughter and her family…..moving from Kingston, Ontario. I so wish that I had known about you prior to my experience in finding a place. I did it on my own going through listings over the past several months. I experienced all that you so brilliantly outlined in a video recently as you were describing what it was like to find a condo that allowed a dog over 25 lb! in the Cook Street village area. I found a few that I really liked and the dog situation made them a no go! So disappointing as my 12 year old standard poodle is quiet and well behaved. I wish that I could have had your take on the place that I have settled on. I bought it without seeing it in person, which seems rather rash, however, I had checked so many out and I seemed to be drawn to three character homes …..my criteria were to be within 15-20 minutes of my daughter, and my grandchildren’s school, and a washer/dryer on site, plus a walkable distance to groceries. This place meets all those criteria, so fingers crossed it will suit me fine. Your videos about what it is like to live in Victoria are confirming; I very much enjoy your content and delivery.

Hi Ainsley great! Video just love watching all the cute beautiful homes in Victoria. Yes I also loved the pubs in oak Bay when I was there this January. And loved that penthouse gorgeous and lots of space. You don't get that in Toronto. Am happy that you do the villages. Am hoping to visit Victoria in the spring but this time with a friend who has never seen Victoria. ❤
