This team is or was ranked #2 behind only Cincinnati Moehler by the great computer rankings . They would absolutely demolish most large schools, with a few exceptions. Its good to see them get some credit. Often wanted to see them get a chance to play teams like Massillon and put to rest who is best.

In this game they beat the team that had their QB named offensive POY for D7 in the state of Ohio and they held him in check. Not to mention Marion Local will scrimmage D3 and D2 teams and beat them handedly. I'm not willing to say they would compete in the GWOC (Centerville, Wayne, and etc.) or the GCL (Alter, St. X, Moeller, and etc.), but I do think they could compete at the D3 or D4 level and still compete for state titles. The MAC conference is also home of some really talented former players (most former Buckeyes) like Bobby Hoying (Former OH State and NFL Starting QB), Todd Boeckman (Former OH State starting QB), Ross Homan (former OH State starting LB), Jeff Hartings (Former Penn State and NFL Starting OL), Jim Lachey (Former OH State and NFL starting OL) and the list could go on.

@@travis5385its by population of boys under 18? I think they will have to revise the number so they might go into D6. This team they played in state championship played a school from a town of like 600 people.

@@brandonconforto315 that’s 2 more boys per grade 7-12. They aren’t the biggest D7 and over half of their state championships have been D6. It makes no sense to move them up solely based on how good they are. Thats like saying their coach needs to go elsewhere because he’s too good lol

And they just won a state championship last weekend 74-0. It was 60-0 at halftime. It safe to say that their most fierce competition is within their conference. The playoffs are a breeze to them.

I have played football in both Ohio and Texas. They need to play teams from out of state. Ohio is no competition for them. Here in Texas, they would be 2A D1 or 3A D2. These guys need different looks and exposure. Several teams from here in Texas would be chomping at the bit to play them

@easyenetwork2023 Texas teams do play in November and December. While fall and winter in Texas is cold, Ohio is colder and there isn't much chance of a snow game like y'all get. Still, it would be a sight to see Marion play one of the teams I mentioned from Texas

@@jbthajugganaut2003they are also a product of what happens when your population declines which is what has happened to a lot of Ohio cities. The pool of good football players shrink. The same thing happened to Massilon. They both aren't producing the D1 prospects like they did in the '90s and even the 2000s

I went to this game in 2001. The only game I can say was bigger and better was like 2018 or 2019 the first time grove city played grove city central crossing. Me and my dad went to that game and there was 10,000 to 12,000 people at that game.

There's no stoplights in any of the towns that make up Marion Local. I graduated there in 1984.
