Great concert!. I'm a Trini Lopez fan & there is a TV show from early February 1964 out on dvd for many years of him & his Trio, which starts with his flight arriving in Brussels, then an airport interview & finally the studio show with enthusiastic audience. I think this was his first or second time in Belgium,I know he had been in Holland mid-late 1963 & possibly too Belgium @ same time in any case, the airport interviewer welcomes him to Belgium, quote " For the first time" Peace out

Ray Stanley, Don Sargent and Norm Skylar should have composed, played and sung together. They had something awesome in common. Instead, Norm didn't seem to do anything musically after that 45. The one available photograph is taken many years later

Exactly, and for the legendary solo of "Rock Around the Clock" (1954) which has become cult, it was suggested to him to take up the solo he had already recorded in 1952 for "Rock the Joint" with Bill Haley with The Saddlemen, which we could hear here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4DFqIWua9VjrpIfeature=shared&t=34 Less than two months after this 1954 session, Danny Cedrone died at 33 from a broken neck after falling down a flight of stairs, but he would not have the opportunity to savour the effect that his solo would have on the next decades of music. Greetings, Ben. 🖐

It was Hazy Osterwald Sextet. There were six of them. You missed one. My uncle, Dennis Armitage, was the sixth founder member joining Hazy in 1951. At the time, he was playing in venues such as Ronnie Scotts and London Palladium with bands like Kathy Stobart Band and various others, when Hazy Osterwald visited London looking to assemble a super-group of talented muscians. Fearing jazz and swing music's popularity was going in decline in favour of Rock&roll and blues he left England for Switzerland having been persuaded to join Hazy. They had a 15 year highly succesful career together before he went solo and wrote and played for some of Europes greatest jazz singers. He is credited with over 200 compositions and played his last gig at Lucerne Jazz Festival at the age of 72. Pianist and saxophonist he was a quite man, the powerhouse behind Hazy Osterwald's Sextet and wasn't a front man craving notoriety and fame, yet he appears on all your photos of rtecord sleeves. 😊

I have an elderly friend who was given a photo of Roger Smith (by Roger Smith) to photocopy in their heyday in the 1950s, but never got the chance to return it. Does anyone know Roger or if he still lives in Oak Village or if he is still alive? The photo may also be of interest to his family if he has one. And is Les Bennetts still with us? He lived in Berkeley House, Hay Hill then. Thank you.

Hello, Unfortunately, this recording comes from a various artists LP "Rock & Roll With Piano" released by the Dutch firm "White Label Records" in 1992, and it is the only Jimmie Helms title present. Sorry, Greetings Ben.🙁

Happy to subscribe to your wonderful channel! In 1967 I was 20 and purchased the "If You Go Away" album. I haven't played it in a very long time due to lack of a record player. Well last night I had a dream of Damita Jo singing "Dinner for One Please James", which was always my favorite song on the album. How crazy to dream of this! Before seeing your page and reading your info I had no idea she was so lively. Well done BenBop thank you!!
