I had no idea that this group formed the basis of Dread Zeppelin when it broke up.

Both actors are great as Lecktor/Lecter. The world is big enough for both different performances

Cox's portrayal of Lector (Lecktor) was, in my opinion, far better than Hopkin's version. It was far more subtle, less melodramatic, but even more menacing.

Probably one of the very few people who thinks Hopkins portrayal of lector was so over the top it's almost camp. Love Manhunter!

Dread Zeppelin originated from the band The Prime Movers, which existed from 1986 to 1989. Key members of The Prime Movers-bassist Gary Putman, drummer Curt Lichter, and guitarist Joseph Ramsey-formed Dread Zeppelin after The Prime Movers disbanded.

The 80's got a bad rap for glitz and glam, Michael Mann KNEW how to weave a song and the scene into the movie. This movie is a prime example.

what a complete ass of an interviewer. Asking Brian Cox in other words how horrible he felt when Anthony Hopkins got more famous playing the character? Manhunter is one of the greatest pieces of film of the 20th century and Cox has a lot to do with it. Hopkins and Silence of Lambs is pure camp by comparison.

Cox's Hannibal was the most credible. I loved Anthony Hopkins' portrayal, but it was so over the top and theatrical in comparison. He even sourced some of his performance from old Dracula movies. Somehow it worked brilliantly, but Cox's Hannibal is what I would actually expect to see if I visited the character in the prison.

Adil Ray hosts a version of Lingo on ITV, which looks similar to the one advertised. I remember an American show in the 80's that was reshown in the 90's on cable tv,that was more numbers based,with a hostess called Dusty?! I could be hallucinating though, I am currently in bed with a cold!!🤢

He is 100% right about Thomas Harris falling in love with the character and his later works are ludicrous compared to Red Dragon and Silence. They are tight books. I don’t know if he had anything to do with the Hannibal tv series but that, Mads Mikkelson aside, was utter tripe also.

Brian Cox was the definitive Lector. Manhunter remains one of my favorite films, a Michael Mann masterpiece.

He is realistic there's no Shakespearean theatrics like Hopkins. Hes charming and witty truly allowing us to put our guards down not realizing how dangerous and full of darkness he is. Zack Effron's Bundy was a similar great performance. They are so deceptively charismatic that we the audience need to be reminded of their horrific crimes to snap out of their seduction. Cox's eye movements are the subtle glimpse into his diabolical and calculating behavior.
@gwmcklintock Жыл бұрын
Brian Cox portrayal of Hannibal Lecter is far more convincing. Cox's version is a psychopath. Hopkins version is a sociopath.

0:25 The Finders ad is an absolute classic late 80s snapshot. Women's liberation has come to full fruition. "How about cookin' somethin' up for me, for me heee" Sings the empowered young stylish "go get it" career woman driving in her Ford Escort cabriolet home to her boyfriend who at least still is masculine & does weights. Who has prepared a stylish quick frozen dish from a instant microwave meal!
