You might remember me I was an employee of yours. You rubbed your genitals against me and I quit. You have tried to ruin my career ever since. So you geriatric garbage bag. What is my name? I know you are probably wondering which one of the people who I rubbed my gentials against is this. Well you can eliminate everyone that still works there. Having Fun Yet? Maybe this will put that Meat Ball head of yours to work.

michael, I purchased the pcDI to record direct sound from a mixer connected to a lifestream (www.livestream.com) box. How its hooked up. Canon HD is connected to the lifestream box with a HDMI cable, the pcDI is connected to the camcorder with a 3.5 mm (into the headphone jack) with the red and white RCA cable, the pcDI is then connected to the mixer with a 1/4 inch aux cable. Is there a better way to do or tell is I'm even recording from the mixer? It sounds the same as if I were using the camcorders mic.

I think the problem has to do with what the manual states: "If the HDMI signal is HDCP protected, it cannot appear on a display that is not HDCP compliant and the machine will not output a picture on the VGA output"

It's the challenge of using active vs passive speakers. I do live sound and have 4 of the ELX115 (passive) speakers they work great. With active speakers mfgs. will put more protective measures so users won't self destruct their speakers.

It's really a non factor as, those raings are more so for matching separate amps to the speaker. The speaker component in this case is 400w with a peek of 1600w don't expect to run any speaker continuously above 150% (600w) of rms rating - rms rating is the real number you care about. EVs design apparently sized to protect the speaker from overload failures in this active combination.

see Stoneeh response for pro reason for active system - easy setup, Con: if your amp fails for any reason, you're out of luck there is no bypassing the power amp

pro is that you just connect it to power and your music source, and that's it, no more hardware required. no need to carry extra amplifiers around and connect them. weight wise there is barely a difference anymore between active and passive. so there are clear advantages to active speakers: mobility and ease of use

What are the pros and cons of the active or passive systems?? I need to buy speakers, I would like to know which system is best for live music, or maybe for a wedding of 150 people. HELP PLEASE

(continued) Just so you can get into my mindset, main reason I bought the EVs was their 134dBs but I was very dissapointed when I found out that my previous speakers could actually go a bit louder... Luckily I could still return them and now I'm looking into the RCF Art 7 series territory. Anyway...the EVs are nice speakers, but the specs don't seem very accurate to me.I guess 1000W is the peak rating(EV gives no RMS rating) and I don't think the 134dBspl is true based on my experience

I don't want to sound too harsh but I got a pair of 115P with a 134dBspl rating on paper for use as mains for parties and live band PA.I don't know how EV came up with these numbers but I put them on a A/B comparison with my previous mains RCF Art 315-A mk II which have 128dBspl on paper with both speakers barely below cliping. The EVs had more bass, but the RCFs sounded much clearer, especially their highs. Bottom line is the RCFs felt louder and we're talking about a 6 dB difference on paper...

It's not about how many watts a speaker takes continuously, it's about the spl it produces without reaching distortion. The live x series do over 130db spl, find me another speaker in this price range that can do that.

@missle25 Same is the case for speakers of any manufacturer, not just EV. :) I have heard these work, and they really sound better than mackie, qsc or any other make in the same range.

ELX112P = 200-250 continuous watts. Even when I called them, there was dead silence on the air. ELX115P = 300-350watts continous. Just putting the truth out there. There are way too many young dj's just starting out and EV is good for taking their money! Not saying they are crooks. But they are very good at hiding the real facts. Young dj's, ask many questions when in the stores! Always, always, always ask "what does this speaker push CONTINUOUSLY"? NOT PEAK AT! peace

Is there any reason why no one ever comes straight out and says "this speaker will push 200watts continuously" as supposed to always saying "the speaker has an 800watt amp!???? This little speaker will never push 800watts! That's crazy and you are now talking QSC speakers. No where I have gone yet, has anyone mentioned the continuous wattage. Only person that has is PSSLCANADA. Thanks to him! The do kick some serious ass, but not at 800watts! sorry. Nice video presentation though.
