It's like a 'spot the dog' competition at the summit - love it! It seems a lot more hospitable (ie less rocky) up there than other Scottish mountains - Tony
@andy-astroАй бұрын
Aye, the doggo loved it up there, still a young pup at the time so would have been very exciting running around exploring. It's a nice grassy hill for Skye, all the other big hills on the island do tend to be very rocky. Cheers.

well done Andy! It's on my list to do next year. I noticed you used bypass. Is it really difficult this "bad step" section? thank you
@andy-astroАй бұрын
The bypass isn't too bad, a little bit steep and slippery on the gravel near the top, and if it's wet, but no problem if your hands are on the rocks. The direct route over will require rope though. Cheers.

I remember a very narrow section of the ridge near Mullach FC on the way over there, was there a bypass you took or did you not video it?

Another grand video on a perfect winter's day. My brother and I did Sgurr na Stri a few years ago. We did a linear route. We took the boat to Loch Scavaig, climbed Sgurr Na Stri, and then walked back to Sligahan. It was a great day out.
@andy-astro6 ай бұрын
It's such a magnificent viewpoint. I did it last year in full snow conditions too. We were lucky enough to get a big snow storm, followed by a lovely blue sky day. It never seems to last long in the glen with the salty air. I've never used the boat yet, but looks like a great way to approach the hill.

Another good video of munro's I will probably never, climb unless I hire a guide. The scrambling is too difficult for me. It is good to see what I am missing lol.
@andy-astro6 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks. These are such beautiful mountains. The scrambling isn't as hard as it looks, just some of the exposure in the Cuillins can be overwhelming if not used to it. A guide is always a great idea if at all unsure of the routes, and they can deal with any rope stuff that may be required.

Another good video of a quieter part of Skye - helped by good weather. I have done the first two hills on the walk in similar conditions. I was going to do Glamaig, but I had cramp on the way down to the col! from the second top. Is the ascent to Glamaig from the col as steep as it looks?
@andy-astro7 ай бұрын
Hi. Yeah, that last climb up to Glamaig is very steep with a lot of scree. There are lots of grassy patches you can stick to on the way up though, to avoid most of the scree. Thankfully it was dry, so the grassy patches were quite grippy.

@@andy-astro Loch a’ Bhealaich Leamhain at the pass is to be dammed, Earba will be the lower reservoir. I’m amazed you haven’t heard of this dismal scheme. ScotGov is 99% guaranteed to approve the plans because they just wave everything through, landscape doesn’t matter to them. Better get up to Loch Fearna (Quoich) next to record that lovely spot for posterity - it’s also potentially on the death list. Have a look at Nick Kempe’s Parkswatch Scotland blog to read all about Earba. You’ll need a stiff drink.
