I started (I think) with a good basis of audio processing, given that I'm often in touch with a producer I know and have dabbled in audio engineering for fun since my early teens. I do have a question related to the noise floor, which is, my audio clips are pretty much noiseless mostly, except of course, when there's no voice, in which the compressor and the EQ "bring up" the noise floor. I don't like, as I feel it doesn't sound professional to submit an audition with noise between clips, so I usually use a noise gate, with 1ms of attack and 100ms of release (and a lot of lookahead so there's no cuts lol). To me as an pseudo-audiophile it sounds pretty cool, cause there's enough release that it cuts the noise gradually and doesn't cut between words, but not so much that the fade out is perceptible. (I'm using the AT2020 and an Onyx Artist pre-amp, which aren't super great, but I feel are perfectly suitable if you keep a consistent good technique.) Should I just remove the noise suppression, or keep trusting the instinct? I ask this genuinely, because as much as I like audio, I'm not officially a professional and the last thing I want to have is the arrogance to think I don't need to improve. Also, I got my first shortlist at 30 auditions, is this good, or is this kinda substandard?

Hi there! Nobody under 18 can work on our platform. If a client was looking for a teen or child voice, we have some adult talent who can provide those.

I think I've gotten too competitive pushing and trying to get my read done and uploaded before there's 40 responses ahead of me. For most of the commercial reads, I'll see it come in, get straight into markup and by the time I press record 3-4 mins later, there's 3-12 responses. In some cases I'll see the audition come in live and by the time I open it there's already two responses in the first two minutes! I don't even know how that physically someone could be that fast on it, much less clean it up.

Vocal fry was a DISORDER until woke totalitarians took over the Speech-Language Pathology field and declared the truth to be "judgmental." Awakened from the woke nightmare, Americans no longer ignore this childish habit that harms a speaker's vocal cords and annoys listeners.

hi how do you put an Ai voice that says what you type on IMovie ?
@voices
@voices 11 күн бұрын
You would have to use additional tools and resources to add AI Voice to your videos in iMovie. It might even be better to add the AI Voice FIRST, and then add captions/titles after.

Hey thanks for the awesome video, it’s very helpful! Quick question - if I have a 32bit float microphone, can I set that up in the advance section of preferences? And if so, do I need to do any other setup in GarageBand to effectively use the 32 bit float function?
@voices
@voices 11 күн бұрын
GarageBand doesn’t natively support 32-bit float recording-it maxes out at 24-bit. You can still use your 32-bit float mic, but GarageBand will convert the data to 24-bit during recording. For true 32-bit float functionality, you’d need to record with another app and then import the audio into GarageBand.

Also, regarding the DAWs you use, Bandlab still has Cakewalk *completely for free* (long as you sign in), and as a dude who's relatively experienced with music and dialogue production, I have to say, it's just perfect. Totally professional level, great set of plug-ins which you can add on without changing anything in the original clips and it'll treat the audio perfectly in real time.

Theres a famous scene of a guy ranting at a barista for using vocal fry. He annoyed the hell out of me. Who hangs on to unimportant things like that. I don't mind it. I've used it to convey playfulness since I can remember. I like when Bane from batman does it. Sounds fun

I’m a gamer, and a LOT of people that hear me speak either say I have a great voice, ask me to read something to them, or ask if I do radio or podcasts. I am a natural bass and I’ve finally decided to listen to the feedback I get and embark on the journey of becoming a voice actor. My background is entirely in trades, mainly welding but I had to hang up my hood after a motor vehicle accident that left me with a spine injury. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I made it as a voice actor with only a $20 mic and a quiet room, I work at a studio with a couple friends, and there's a bunch of empty rooms where the voice actors would record the voices, I'm an animator as well, and I do most of the work, I write the scripts, I animate every single frame, all of that, and since I don't have a desktop device, I have to animate using my phone, I use flipaclip by the way

Thank you for making this video. I studied Meisner as well in addition to many other forms of acting and these are the basics but many many people who jump into voiceover have no idea about this because they have no acting background whatsoever. So if they can just learn this one thingit will make a big difference for them
