I wished that if people had nothing nice to say that they would say nothing... Balance that with the adage from the 12-step world: "Other people's opinion of you is none of your business." Maybe as a society, we should strive toward the middle... I saw Keith on tour with Citizen Soldier a few months ago. I had the pleasure of chatting briefly with Keith; if anyone took the time to do that, I think that they would appreciate Keith more. Keith's show was top notch, mix was spot-on and the selected repertoire was superb... Keep pushing on!

When the hell was "metal not for girls" ?! There has been girls in metal since... well. before metal....lol Joan Jett, Lita Ford, the band "Girlschool", and a host of others through the 1970's and 1980's. And since the 80's. there have been too many to count :)

There’s still a widespread belief among people who don’t listen to metal that girls should stay away from it unfortunately! And that’s what was tackled here, but you’re absolutely right! 👍
@PlacidDragon2 күн бұрын
@@Parallyxband I know that stigma existed in the 80's and early 90's, but did not realize it was still a thing. There are so many girl bands and female fronted bands out there now, and have been for decades. Yes, the "vibe" certain "rockers" give off can be off putting for a parent (Denim, leather, spikes, etc), and while i am sure there is plenty of drugs in the scene (there always is), i'd wager that you'd find a hell of a lot more in for example the rap scene than the metal scene :) That said, i've never been *in* the scene, so all my information in that sense is second hand.

@@PlacidDragon i think we are lucky enough to be surrounded by people who know now it’s normal to have girls pretty much everywhere (metal, football and whatnot) but yeah, you’d be surprised to see how much « the outside world » is still unaware of how many metal bands have women in them. We even still get this question sometimes « does it feel weird to have a woman as a singer and leader? ». Soooo yeah. Room for improvement, but we’ll get there!
@BelgianJasper2 күн бұрын
@@PlacidDragon you'd be surprised how often female musicians are still asked today "are you the merch girl?" or "who's girlfriend are you?" but beyond this, the conversation with Lina was also about the cultural acceptance given her Moroccan roots... Its kind of crappy if people are posting negative comments about the singing when the band, really, doesnt have a choice. Its not like Motley Crue with Extreme's singer, or Sammy Hagar, The Ripper with Judas Priest. Ive supported this band since 2003 so if the people dont like it, they can eat a hot shit sandwich. Great interview! Dahlia Forever!!!!

People don’t like change. I loved Trevor as both a vocalist and he just seemed like a really cool fun guy (although I never had the pleasure of meeting him). But Brian is also an awesome guy. I do prefer Trevor’s vocals of course but as you said they have no choice. It’s actually pretty amazing Brian sounds as good as he does when he was just kind of forced to do this in order for the band to continue. There have been plenty of great bands in both metal and rock that have had two great lead singers. Paul Di’Anno/Bruce Dickinson - Iron Maiden, Ozzy/RJD - Sabbath, Diamond Dave/Sammy - Van Halen (Sammy was great, people are nuts) just to name a few.

Servitude is a true departure from the classic bdm sound but I welcome it. It definitely has its moments of reminiscence but every other track is just so dense and new. I appreciate mammoths hand because it’s so everblackish but most of the other tracks are hard to dissect cuz of the extreme musicianship and chemistry. That’s a great problem to have and I hope they continue refining it as they push forward
@adamsamels85396 күн бұрын
I feel they didn't depart from it but most of the album is different then others do agree but this is Brian's first time behind the Mic and who knows dude we may get the classic sound fully again tho Brandon and Ryan great in this band on guitar no doubt but nothing against Brain he's still a great guitar player
@Blunterx4205 күн бұрын
I don't think it's a departure at all. Yes, it may not contain the vocal techniques and patterns Trevor use to throw at us when a new album came out, but I think it being Brian's first time as the main vocalist on an album, was done quite well. He's still learning and will get better over time. This was the best decision for the band to move forward in my opinion.

It’s a departure from their other albums? What album did you listen to?
@ds6985 күн бұрын
Yeah I know your intention was to basically say the new stuff is welcomed but I think using the word departure has people thinking you’re less inclined to be sincere with your comment. I feel like I understood what you meant but I do disagree it’s not a departure the only departure is the actual loss of Trevor, I said it before Brian has done backing vocals since the beginning, Brian’s vocals are a lot like Trevor’s but more of a Barking howl and I really enjoy it, Trevor’s voice is with us for 9 albums 10 of you include the live album. The enhancement for me is all the added musician ship every time I listen to the record o hear new stuff I missed and every new bit is just as savory as the next one. For me this was up over par with their work and a great way to pay repeat to Trevor by making a stellar album. ❤

From 1984-86, nothing in my world bigger than W.A.S.P. & they had f'n Death Angel, neither of who I've seen before... & Unto Others, who really should be the headliner for that show.. Tall order following those 2 bands, for sure! But Blackie could've stunk up the place, and nobody would care.. We just wanted to see him play... Unto Others in my opinion, currently the best rock n metal band in the U.S.!
