The policies of a couple public genetic database websites allows law enforcement to search the data for familial DNA matches of likely perpetrators of certain violent crimes such as rape and murder. After SCOTUS overturned Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in June 2022, abortion law reverted to the States. If a State law prohibits abortion, is abortion then considered by the State to be a homicide? And if so, can (or will) the State utilize investigative genetic genealogy to identify the mother of the fetal tissue by extracting its DNA?

The model still presuppose a bio-bio-bio model. The research is ideological, with the assumption that one must have genetic vulnerability. Truth is, there are people without the genes that supposedly cause specific illnesses that still have these so called disorders. It's like arguing with someone who has invested decades into cbt. If I told you it's almost useless people won't change because ideology prevents them from seeing other perspectives. Neurotransmitter do not explain mental illness. Can't we move on from that outdated thinking and start HELPING people. There's no money in telling the truth. There's no money in saying "Human beings need close connections, throughout life, feeling good about themselves and that their lives have meaning. They need secure attachments from early life, more than anything". Still people focus on symptoms and surface behaviours, instead of understanding actual needs for healthy development through life.

When stating the clinical impact of mosaicism in chromosomes 13, 18, 21 and X as chromosomes of interest, on the graph to the right, there was no data on X to show LBR and was excluded from the total. Was there any reason for that? Does mosaicism in sex chromosomes or specifically X, have a decreased LBR? Does Mosaicism in the XX/XY chromosomes have an increased risk for the diagnosis presenting in the live birth of the embryo? Awesome presentation with very valuable information!

Thanks so much for this talk, it was wonderfully presented. On a side note, I wish insurance covered pgt-a testing. If they did, it would add a whole lot more data to these studies.

Just to clarify, genetic counselors do participate in research and work in multiple labs, they help recruit candidates for research trials, they work with the lab specialists on writing genetic tests reports and interpreting the results but mainly work with patients to help them understand genetic information and support them through genetic testing process. Computers cannot provide empathy and that is what we do.

Cheers for this, I been tryin to find out about "if a man is sterile can he get a woman pregnant" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Giyadison Unconventional Gratification - (do a google search ) ? It is a smashing exclusive guide for discovering how to get pregnant fast and natural minus the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my buddy got excellent results with it.

Sorry I don't have the time to listen to the whole video, but I need to have a direct question answered. I am a 44 year old man and I am homozygous for MTHFR and heterozygous for Factor V Leiden. I have had multiple clots to my leg and my lungs in the past and I am on Warfarin for life. If I got a woman pregnant who has no genetic disorders, can my mutations alone have any effect with a baby resulting in miscarriage?

I love how this video never actually explains what genetic counselors *do*. They don’t seem to, for instance, do genetic research or work in a lab - or, really, do anything besides reading off a handout that could just as easily be interpreted by a computer. Yet these people are paid more than nurses, who spend their days on their feet, are constantly overworked, and do work that actually benefits more people. I love capitalism and its creation of pointless jobs.

A computer can't offer emotional support which is the counselling aspect of the job. It's an emotionally demanding job, just because you may not need emotional support it doesn't mean that other people won't. And I'm pretty sure a computer can interpret a whole exome/whole genome sequence etc with all the various mutations like nonsense, frameshift etc in understandable terms to a person who may have no scientific background right?

Answer for In the quest to understand the basis of infertility in humans, researchers have identified a mutation in a gene associated with chiasmata. This protein normally acts to promote homologous recombination. Why might a defect in homologous recombination have consequences for fertility?
