Yesterday (5/18/24) at AnimeCentral in Chicago Illinois, I got the opportunity to meet the legendary Sora Tokui with my 3rd cousin. I waited for 4½ hours to meet her even though we were 2nd and 3rd in line out of the 200+ people. At 1:25 pm she saw me and waving at us at her Q&A panel. Luckily enough, i was sitting at the front row with my cousin. And I was lucky enough to get my question answered from her. It was at 2:20 pm and when one of the translators called my name, she immediately recognized me and I was wearing a Chicago flag to show my pride to her for my home city. And she hilariously mimicked me of shaking my flag and everyone in the room started cheering and laughing. I've never felt like I had real pride in my life until now. (If you were at her Q&A at AnimeCentral, yes, i was the one wearing the Chicago flag lol that was me). And i also gave her a letter including a drawing of Nico sitting on a bench with the Chicago skyline along with some Chicago souvenirs. Im glad that i made a friendship with her, it will be indelible to me. And she loved her time in Chicago, she's the second seiyuu to visit after Yurika Kubo. Makes me proud to be a fan 🤩
