I thought I’m all set up use to work on the SoCal fleet to newbies if ya could maybe go into specific details of your set ups like your rods company or custom made length line rating and flex to backbone and why you like that rod for that purpose also why you matched it with your reels type n size of reels and your thoughts on the company reels you use and mostly if braid n topshot how many yards of braid the company braid you use then your topshot mono or flours and what companies of mono n flouro and how many yards or feet of your topshot and the joining knot see some people look foward to these vids however they get embarrassed for asking questions in the tackle shop or landing even on the boats and they would like to see into your world and what exactly you use to I guess get inspired and hopefully they will take the leap and get on the boats and do what we do the reason I mention this is that your vids are not that bad at all you have decent technique I believe people would get more out of it

I wish someone would make a sport boat that that can turn into a catamaran and go 30kts and then retract back to a v hull for fishing. 10mph is painful when you can’t get out much because of time.

The landing I great to get last minute hot biting jigs. San Diego charges an extra 15% tax on the landings hence all their stuff is about 15% higher than msrp. By the way at my age I had stopped "chasing tail" long ago, I am now just "chasing fins." 😂

Jim - thanks for the videos! Always great content. Keep ‘em coming. Had a bad weather trip on the Tomahawk last year and Captain Dave said we’re gonna head in early but hunt for em on the return. 3 hours later at 12:30 am he called everyone out of their bunks and we all limited in 1-1/2 hrs. I was next to Dave as he hauled in the last fish of the morning, easily 100lb +. He turned and was yelling with excitement, whooping and hollering! It was cool to see his love of fishing and happiness for the men that were on deck that night. True definition of epic. Awesome crew and boat. The San Diego Sportfishing industry is amazing and I hope it can continue for my grandsons and daughters. All the best Jim.

That looks like the same day I was there, my first time. I was using a weightless senco, I caught 34. A lot of 3 and 4 pounds, one 6 pound. Using weightless helped to keep the snags Down.

I went again this past Saturday, blue bird sky, got there at 6 am. Was doing good till about 11 am , then the fish just shut off. Caught a 7 pounder. Still wacky rigged a senco. The weight seems to be more of a hindrance. I did use a 1/8 oz shaky head, caught some with that to. They do seem to like the smaller size senco. Good luck on your next trip !!

Dave Ibrahim's ownership story is a classic example of Frank LoPreste (and Brian Kiyohara) taking care of the sportfishing fleet for the future. Dave's story has been repeated numerous times over the past 50 years and it has benefitted both the fishing public and the San Diego sport fishing industry well. Congratulations Dave, on ownership of the boat. Well done. It was a pleasure fishing with you years ago on the AA and we look forward to fishing with you on the Tomahawk.
