Hey man, looking for some pointers. Every time I go out with the kids we go around pickles and everything is short. I am usually successful with catching bait/ballyhoo, but were should I go to get into bigger yellowtail? Any advice would be great.
@cousinjim14 күн бұрын
the bigger ones are there they stay farther away from the boat you have to get your bait past the small fish usually casting past them 40+ feet of water good luck
@cousinjim14 күн бұрын
big yellowtail will eat a fairly large ballyhoo plug sometimes it is just a bigger bait
@ryanlarochelle70894 күн бұрын
Awsome. Thanks man. I snorkel around and spearfish pickles and almost never see anything big enough to keep besides chubs. So I was wondering if I am just in the touristy area and need to try somewhere new. How deep do you recommend?
@cousinjim14 күн бұрын
@@ryanlarochelle7089 cruise 30-90' watch the fish finder for a lot of life anchor or spot lock on it you will start catching bigger ones I spear around Pickles also just a really nice reef hit me up when I'm down there and I will fish with you
@ryanlarochelle70893 күн бұрын
You're the man. Thank you so much for the info. I'll be there the last 2 weeks of February. If you think we can get on some dolphin, wahoo or tuna, I would love to go out. We have had alot of success on our own during the may mahi season, but it seems like February the mahi move out.

Nice JIm! How do you know the depth of your line? Have it marked when spooled? Thank you
@cousinjim15 күн бұрын
@@glenfishing after fooling the reel I pull 100 feet off and put a single mark black marker about 12 inches long then I pull another hundred feet off and put the 2 12 inch marks Then I pull another hundred feet and put 312 inch marks The reason I did it in the first place is when your tuna fishing the captain will tell you exactly how deep the fish are. They start at 225 and end at 300 so you can fish your jig right in the zone with the fish are If you’ve watched some of my tuna videos, you will see me do that constantly. That is probably the reason I hook up more tunes than most people. Thanks for a great question. Hope this helped.

Went on my first half day. Was nervous because it was my first time and I was going alone. Your videos helped gave me a clue of what to expect. The funny thing I learned- most of the guys (and a girl) go ALONE. It was so fun. Got limits of rockfish on the New Seaforth. I never understood why people would buy an electric reel; I do now. Wish I learned about rockfish fishing earlier instead of a few days before season closure haha. I’ll get em in March. Thanks again Jim. 🫡

I CANT STAND HOW BOB ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAVE AN ATTITUDE AND IS ALWAYS RUDE. HE ALSO MAKES THE RULES UP AS HE GOES. I WENT TWO DAYS IN A ROW. THE FIRST DAY HE LET EVERYONE OPEN A TAB WHEN WE SIGNED UP FOR THE BAG. THE NEXT DAY I ASSUMED WE WERE DOING THE SAME THING AND HE SCREAMED AT ME IN FRONT OF MY FAMILY FOR NOT PAYING AND WHEN I MENTIONED THAT THE DAY BEFORE HE LET ME HE TOLD ME "WELL NOT TODAY".... ON THE OTHER HAND PAUL IS THE NICEST ONE ON THAT ENTIRE FLEET AND HES THE ONLY REASON I STILL GO.
