Dave way too slow to setup coming out of the clinch and paid the price. Old school rules getting arms inside off the clinch!! Needed to lean in use his size an weight more but wanted a gunfight instead. Not clever. Opetaia is special his timing is incredible even off balance.

Yeah, but as a professional prizefighter and NZ warrior, how could he deny the opportunity ? No one will belittle him for that, quite the contrary. And hopefully he gets better and go back on his own rythm of development, having taken an accelerator with that defeat. Fingers crossed, 'cos yeah that was brutal.

I believe Jai didn't start the fight with his normal 'smart fighting' as Nyika rushed him early and went into the 'gunfight' they were talking about before. It was obvious Opetaia was emotional and had taken this fight more personally than others. The fourth round came around and we could see him come back to his boxing and that pendulum step with the feints. It paid off and got the knockout.

@@zy823 that was Nykia's gameplan, obviously. probably betting to destabilize Jai's plan - and his experience, which could help him adjust better or quicker than him. Not that bad a thinking, and well executed, since he had early success. But congrats to Jai, he survived the storm and launched his own. But i wonder how long he'll be able to do that, 'cos even if he 's steel-coated until now, no one remains on the long term. But maybe he won't have to anytime soon. Zurdo is a calculated technician, and others have seen again how tough Jai is if you're willing to brawl.

This is who that fraud benavides needs to be fighting. Opetaia would absolutely WRECK that benavidez hypetrain. Same size, same age and roughly the same amount of experience. Instead, benavidez has been fighting much smaller guys his entire career. And conning the public.

Very interesting comments from the Champ. Jai can't be reckless, can't let his emotions take control. He doesn't need to do that. Hope he learns the lesson, he's taking punishment, will pay the cost if he doesn't adjust. Jai is such a problem for everyone, a terrifying prospect, just needs an adjustment.

Actually if you've seen his interviews, his emotions are a weapon and he knew how to funnel it, listen to him talk about it. Its yet another dimension to his game that ppl are only now discovering. His emotions doesn't come out a lot but it did in this match and holy jeez... watch out
@pochaze671
@pochaze671 4 күн бұрын
yeah but he will pay the price at some points, if his emotions push him beyond his physical limites. Even granite do crumble at some point. But that's nice and inspiring, that he has the heart of a warrior, and of a champ. Just hope that won't be his downfall, before he becomes undisputed. Time will tell. In the meantime a great boxer-puncher to watch! 🥊 As Briedis, who rose to a master-level and aged very very well! 👏👏👏

Beterbiev is slow; lifts his rear foot when throwing a straight; has one of the worst pendulum jabs to ever enter the world stage that comes out off the exact same timing every time; doesn’t know how to l-step; sucks at blocking and interacting with the opponent’s punches. Beterbiev is what any journey man would be if they got the lb for lb highest punching power ever in a division with a limited talent pool

Yep. 'scared' is not what I would ever call a pro boxer stepping into the ring, but there was definitely a lack of all that "I'm gonna smash im" talk translating to a look in his eye. Fury managed his output the whole time because he was scared of getting gassed and stopped near the end, like Usyk had done to so many. But there was never a path to victory to just outbox and outpoint Usyk. The thing is everyone knew this in the leadup and Fury yapped it up. He should be sued for false advertising lol
