Your video helped me a lot in this repair. Good job!! My problem was in the side pins. 6:31 minute of the video. They had simply volatilized. I made some drill on each side and pass a piece of thick wire on each side to endure on one side the small side dock, and on the other to be even and not decoupled as it should be of origin.
@ruifeliciano42397 ай бұрын
Spot on. Mine had a different problem. The lateral pins in the tray broke, and the lateral spring was rubbing on the bottom, not allowing the tray to come out. Just disabled all, and bend the spring end, put it back together, and it's fine.

How much was your insurance
@caltarmac Жыл бұрын
For that year I did a multi insurance policy with my mam and sister, my portion of the insurance was £630 with £250 voluntary excess and 2 years NCB I think. Have a check on comparethemarket.com, where you live, years of NCB and miles all have a big impact on your insurance. I had 8000 miles per year but this was during lockdown so I didn’t actually end up using that much.

Thank you, yes I drove the car for maybe 100 miles with this problem, it won’t leave you stranded immediately but it will probably make a banging noise. I found this spring part number from the mk5 golf gti forum page and from what I can tell, the rear spring part number is the same for 3 door and 5 door models. The weight of both models is very similar.

I finally saw your video and managed to fix it completely. I had broken the two side bolts, the one that holds the small spring and the one on the opposite side, with a piece of hot wire I went through the plastic and simulated the bolts, the groove of the plate roll had to be rebuilt with loctite and bicarbonate, this is the place extended and what was left I introduced it in the hole that you indicate. I think that the latter is what you lacked to fully recover its operation.

In last couple oil changes switched from 5w30 vw 504/507 to 5w40 vw 505.01 Acea C3-mid saps oil is a must (change on 10.000km). + Sparks NGK BKUR6ET-10 (change on 20.000km).

@robiszi79323 жыл бұрын
@@caltarmac Hi mate! No doubt,Ibiza is for us great,we like it. Really good car. As an engineer just to say (I also read a lot about tribology) we should stick to the factory "first" oil fill, that was in this case 5w30 vw 504/507, compared to this standard all other oils are inferior. So, if you will buy a new Golf (8) then,please stick to 0w20 with vw 508/509 quality to the end of the life of that engine, or if it is a model G7, G6 then u should stick to 504/507 5w30. Use 5w40 only in case you had a slighlty higher oil consumption (for e.q.1.5lit on 15.000km is stil okay), slightly higher mileage (above 160-200.000km) or if you are in Spain,Greece, because there summers are really hot. But,as I can see you're British, and maybe you don't need 5w40. 5w30 Mid Saps oils are simply superb,better aditives,better oil film. And be careful, mid saps is a must (Acea C3) for a car with Dpf if is diesel engine (or Lpg). Which brand? Any good in GB - Comma,Exol,Millers,or Holland Kroon,Belgian Wolf, great oils also. (We switched to 5w40 because driving in HU,SRB,GR during summer is very hot, even 15-20 days here were 37-38°C from time to time and 40...and 2times one mechanic put a 10w40, that really pissed me off...so there wasn't a way back to 5w30...). Best regards!
@caltarmac3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that info! I have a (mk5) 2007 golf gti now. From what I understand mixing oils shouldn’t be done ever, but modern synthetic oils are very flexible and generally are acceptable to change from 5w30 to 5w40 or back again, is that wrong? As I am experiencing high oil consumption, I think it will be beneficial for me to switch. The uk has a moderate/cool climate most of the year so 5w30 is good for lubricating quickly in cooler temperatures on a cold engine. From what I’ve read the operating circumstances between the two are very similar, however 5w40 will out perform 5w30 in high load, temperature, RPM situations. I have been using castrol edge LL but with normal interval change 5-6,000 miles. Thanks for the tips I’ve heard great things about milers nanotech oil

I forgot to mention, the 2.0 tfsi engine in my car will run hotter than a naturally aspirated car because it is turbocharged.
@robiszi79323 жыл бұрын
@@caltarmac yes, you can mix oils,but pay attention to similar ones,5w30 with 5w40, API SN with SN, 10w40 can with 15w40,but not with 5w40 etc,...do not be afraid of thinner oils,especially when is turbo,they are even better for this,because thinner oils have better flow,they will be "quicker" in reaching the preciuos bearings of your turbo when is cold,okay is to switch to 5w40 only in case excessive oil consumption(greater then 1-1.5 lit on 10.000km),for that manufact.year G5 oil change should be max 1y and 10.000km (approx.5000 miles). Here's my tip for 5w40, buy Liqui Moly TopTec 4100(Acea C3, vw 502/505.01),it is awesome! If you are interested,then register on erwinVolkswagen,and there are listed oils with official approval (both 504 and 505.01,my vote is for MidSaps because your catalysator), but as we talked, Exol,Comma,mighty Shell,all domestic brands (Shell is gas-to-liquid,the best base oils used in the world)...
