Many years ago I came upon a small, family cemetery just off a dusty dirt road in Tennessee hill country. No more that 12-15 weathered stones, most inscriptions obscured by moss. One stone stood out though; above the name and the date of birth & death, was a ceramic insert with a photo of a young boy in his casket. I recall the sadness that swept over me that day; what must have been over 60 years ago. I was going to say.something about it being a lonely place, but he was there with his family, wasn't he?

Not following directions and getting lost is part of the adventure, at least that was always my excuse. A shame about the lake. My local pond has a tap to fill it up, but last summer the key holder was neglectful for some reason and people were very angry when the fish were dying and the ducks were paddling in mud.

I often visited the park while living in Sausalito & Novato. I proposed to my wife near the ruins of Wolf House. The loss of his “Dream Home” must have been devastating. I was hoping you would mention the Pig Palace! 😄 Thank You! The nearby pond was also a favorite spot.

I love this park. Perfect for a day trip from San Francisco. In fact, in the mid 1800's people in San Francisco would hop on a narrow gauge freight train that brought supplies and paper from Samual P Taylor's paper (Pioneer Paper Mill, the first paper mill on the Pacific Coast) and ride it up to the redwoods to camp overnight, then ride the train back to SF the next day. Lots of cool history there 🙂

Not the rain part (our state is very dry) - redwoods actually warm temperatures, so that’s why it is less chilly than around the rest of the area :)

Spectacular place. Do they allow bicycles on the paths? Nice to see the deer. It will be rutting season soon, so have to be a little more careful out and about.

I am not sure - it is extremely steep with a ton of narrow steps, so you would likely end up carrying it more than riding it!
