I just have one question, if you are not yet in the country for viewing the apartment, then would I have to wait till I fly over before starting to look for the apartment or can I do so online and get everything done before arriving to Sweden? I'm just asking cause I plan to do my PhD there and so it would be helpful if I could get my own place as well, even better if I could get it done before my arrival to Sweden. Thanks 😅

@@gkan-p4p I think it’s possible, but it depends on the landlord. You should ask about it in your letter to see if it’s an option. Perhaps you could arrange to meet and talk with your landlord online. In any case, good luck with your apartment search! I hope you find the best deal for you.😊

Hi! :) If you are planning to visit Stockholm, here are some places I can recommend to visit: Top Attractions City Hall (Stadshuset): A stunning architectural gem and one of Stockholm’s most beautiful buildings. From here, you’ll get incredible views of Södermalm and Gamla Stan. The Royal Palace (Kungliga Slottet): Perfect for history buffs and fans of royal heritage. Don’t miss the Room of the Three Crowns, but this is best suited for those interested in history. Östermalm: A classic Stockholm neighborhood with charming old buildings and a scenic waterfront. It’s one of the most beautiful areas in the city and a great starting point for exploring nearby attractions. Unique Experiences Museum Island (Djurgården): From Östermalm, you can walk to this island, which hosts several museums and attractions, including Skansen, an open-air museum. January often features special events, so it’s worth checking out, but be sure to buy tickets in advance. Skeppsholmen Island: Easily accessible by boat from Museum Island, this is a serene and picturesque spot for a relaxing walk. "Fettisdagen", Shrove Tuesday, is the last day before the Lent and was the last opportunity to eat what you want before the fasting during the Lent hence "semla" with its whipped cream and almond paste. The tradition was later changed so people ate "semla" (pl. "semlor") not only on "fettisdagen" but also on the six succeeding Tuesdays before Eastern. This was the only period during the year they were sold, but nowadays they're sold almost anytime.

Lutfisk and the gray sausage is something everybody should avoid:), its only an old tradition from the poor times in history. That was otherwise an awesome Julbord, creative, something to aim for. But that was very expensive.

The trick with het vägg is to eat aropund the semla so it doesn't fall apart. Sometimes I even sprinkle some cinnamon on top

I can recommend a visit to the neighboring Midsommarkransen. Nice architecture, small town feel, lots of restaurants and a nice park (Svandammsparken). Similar vibe to Aspudden. Since you are fans of sushi, Svenska sushiköket is recommended.
