He does selectively, there's lots of different types of knowledge. And like Jeff was saying, you can acquire knowledge your own way on your own time. I think Dan realizes now a lot of the stuff he would have learned at college wouldn't have interested him, and what would have he probably didn't have the patience for at that age. I don't interpret this as pride in ignorance, more "this some silly ways I wasted time/money when I was younger".

Sometimes, I really want to dislike Dan, but then sometimes... ...sometimes, Inca dude's head straight turns into a space flute for no reason to some Phil Collins-ass music. Then Dan, without missing a beat, yells out, "NAME THAT TUNE!" instantly creating a classic comedy moment.
