How absolutely wonderful to find Gloria Jean online and with a KZbin Channel! We've always enjoyed her niche of films with Universal and her extraordinary singing voice. I'm so pleased to see her have such a glorious, versatile and fulfilling life. Thank you so much for sharing this and all the very best for continued happiness and good health.

Gloria was my mom's favorite actress. I was named after her in 1952. (Gloria Jean). I am proud to share the same name! She is quite a talented lady!

If the newer introduction is from 2010, that would make Gloria Jean 84 in Hawaii. Now 90 in 2016.

She is still a pretty lady. What a beautiful girl, and a wonderful actress.....in her films, she appears so natural and like she is not acting....and THAT requires a great deal of talent to accomplish....she is a joy to watch in her films. Her rapport with the Great Fields is incredible.

Jerry Jaye I still marvel at "The Under-Pup," because, as you say, it's incredible that it's her first film---her acting is so natural, it outshines some of her more experienced co-stars. Fields had a genuine affection for her. She frequently mentioned having cold hands on the set of "Never Give a Sucker an Even Break"; after the film wrapped, he sent her a lovely little fur muff with a personal note saying "now you won't have cold hands anymore." Fields also enjoyed having conversations with Gloria's mother, who was another plain-spoken Pennsylvania native.

The two movies that Gloria Jean appeared in that are probably most often today are "Never Give a Sucker and Even Break" with W.C. Fields and "Copacabana" with Groucho Marx. This is a shame, because "The Under-Pup" and "A Little Bit of Heaven" are probably her two best movies. Unfortunately, Universal hasn't entered into agreements with any of the streaming sites and won't come to contractual terms with networks such as Turner Classic Movies, so her films are rarely shown today.

Tom Barrister "If I Had My Way" is also currently available as part of a Bing Crosby collection. Happily, it's the complete version, not the reissue version that cuts Gloria's lovely rendition of "Little Grey Home in the West." I agree that it's a shame that Universal and Columbia aren't making more of her films available on DVDs, TCM, or streaming video.

NEPenguin I'll get a copy of that and have a look. Unfortunately, most of the copies of "Air Strike" that are aired completely eliminate Gloria from the film. I talk to the various bigwigs at TCM every few months about airing three movies. About once per year, they pay Universal's regular fee to air Deanna Durbin's movies. There's no reason they can't pay Universal once two of Gloria's movies, those two "The Under-Pup", and " A Little Bit of Heaven." The run time of those two is a bit under 3 hours total, which would be about 3:15 with introductions by Bob Osborne and their in-house commercials. I keep telling them that the time to air tributes is while the person is still alive to appreciate the honor. I'm tying to track down a copy of "Wonder Valley," which is a daunting task. I've also tried to find the cutting-room floor footage of Gloria's duet with Helen Traubel in "The Ladies Man." That last is probably hopeless. I'm assuming that it was filmed and then cut from the picture. I hope that Gloria is well. I last spoke to her for about half an hour in 2005.

We know from our research (my husband and I wrote "Gloria Jean: A Little Bit of Heaven") that a digital master exists on "The Under-Pup." Probably not on "A Little Bit of Heaven." There is also a digital master for "Destiny," which many fans remember for her dramatic portrayal of a blind girl. "Wonder Valley" is still lost, unfortunately; we tracked down a print in 2005 that had belonged to the producer's estate, but when we opened the cans, it was so badly decomposed that the images on the emulsion were illegible. We suspect if another print exists, it may be lost in the Arkansas archives somewhere, perhaps miscategorized as a travelogue. We don't know if Paramount kept outtakes from Lewis's film. It's our wish that TCM would not only air Gloria's films, but get her comments to use as introductions while she is still with us. Her memories of the legends she worked with are priceless. But, as you know, TCM is deaf to requests to see Gloria's films. It's a sad Catch-22: Her films are not shown (i.e., marketable) because very few know of her; and fewer will know of her in the future because her films are not shown.

I can never get sick of the sisters. As a child of the 80s I think its the pure talent and pure class of the girls. Woman in popular music today should be ashamed.

A family secret, I was born in 1949 and was named Gloria Jean. My mother's best friend was named Gloria and she had a sister-in-law named Jean. They always thought I was named after them. The truth is I was named after you. My mother so enjoyed your films and voice and I have grown to do the same. God bless my namesake.

Gloria Jeans name came to mind after watching Margaret O'Brien...for some strange reason. I just love the computer, if only just for this reason of being able to think of something and/or someone; look it up, and there it is. I remember some of her films from when I was a young girl. It's been great hearing her sing here on youtube. Thanks for the video Gloria, and blessings.

@mistacramer: Neither film is currently available on video or TV in the United States. "Flesh and Fantasy" (without the Gloria Jean sequence) was released in Europe in a PAL format, Region 2 DVD. We know that a broadcast master exists for "Destiny," but it has not been aired on TCM, which currently has rights to show films from the Universal vault. Try posting in the TCM forums or write to TCM to request that they air these films.

Gloria is the epitome of what God's angels look and sound like. Like like so many others, I fell in love with her the later part of the 50's. I hope KZbin posters are generous and share as much of her work as they can for those who weren't around in those days. You and your acomplishments are breathtaking, Gloria. GBY :)
