Happened to me today using Mi Band 7

Both of my show 5 2nd Gens have done this,I contacted Amazon and he told me what to do,Pressing a series of buttons and reconnecting the power cord,it does a factory reset,Didn’t cure the flicker,Lots of people think it was sent in the firmware update to deliberately knacker it so you buy a new one,Same principle as cheap dvd players were fitted with timers to fail If this is true it’s not on Amazon.

Have 3 Echo Show 5's.... (First Echo Show 5 - less than year old:) Has same "flickering" issue as shown in the video above. Tried all the suggestions to no avail. (Second Echo Show 5 - approx 2 years old:) screen goes blank randomly every other week or so, but still responds to verbal requests. Found that if I unplug the power to it, wait several hours, and plug back in, it will work fine until problem repeats -- has done this for over a year now. (Third Echo Show 5 - the oldest one:) Works great, never any problems, and it is over 3 years old. Amazon clearly has hardware/software issues here, but seems unwilling to take ownership of the problems and correct them.

This is happening to mine, just before prime day!! Funny that!! 😂

Buummer, I purchased a new larger show and moved my Show 5th Gen into my office, now its flickering. I updated SW, factory reset, still flickering. Will let it run hopefully it will stop.

Great video! I have this exact model. Now, it boots and right when desktop about to appear it turns off and often while progress bar is loading user profile. Any idea if I place my SSD in an identical 1398 will it boot from my OS (assuming the issue was not on the drive)? Thinking about buying another one to find out… or do you know if one of these bootable macOS USBs off Amazon would assist in troubleshooting the issue? THANKS!

The problem was solved for me by doing the following: Have the display turn off using a voice command and then wait a few seconds and wake up the display again using a voice command, for example with “Show home page”. Repeat the process several times until the flickering on the display disappears.

Same here with an Echo Show 5. Happens immediately even on the initial "Amazon" logo when cold-booting, so it must be a hardware/firmware issue that is not fixable by software or settings. Shame on Amazon! Class-action, YES, someone know a good law firm that wants to make a lot of money from a rich company?

My echo has the same problem. They cannot replace it since it is out of warranty.

i have a echo show 5 doing the screen flicker. factory reset and its still flickering. maybe its time to stop buying echo's. disappointed.

I've got two of these-- they both are doing the same thing. Garbage screens.

I had a similar issue but instead of flickering it screen bled the time into my device and now anytime I look at the time, it's shows what time it was like 4 hours ago. AMAZON I KNOW YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS. >:((

I have three Echo Show 5s in the house and one of them (on my desk) has this issue. It started having the problem last year, but then it disappeared for about a year and has only just returned. Tried a factory reset, no good. I tried plugging it in to the power used by one of the devices in another room, no good. Tried changing the brightness, no good. I did consider it may be getting interference from the monitor and speakerphone on my desk, but I moved it out of the way and it didn't fix it. The problem is intermittent, right now it's okay... so dodgy hardware I think. I've had the unit about 4 years so there's not going to be any warranty protection.
