replace the voltage regulators with LM7805. had my 16.4.2 kept freezing up and sent it back to presonus for about $350 total a few years ago. said they replaced the board but they only replaced the voltage regulators with the same lame voltage regulators. 2 years later board freezes again, now prosonus says board out of service and wont fix it. found a guy to actually replace voltage regulators with beefier LM7805. so far no problems a few months in. good luck. dont have to toss a board where no parts can be salvaged. crazy design that they become disposable.

I foolishly purchased a Presonus 16.4.2 classic mixer when they first came out, it wasn't but a few months later they stopped supporting this mixer. at first, the two-track return stopped working , then the lighted board went so dark I couldn't read it without a flashlite, then all the channels stopped working, I own an HP 60, headphone amp that doesn't work properly, and 2 firestudio projects that no longer work. I was totally on board with Presonus products, till they all stopped working. i do use their DAW, but that's all I have anymore that works. I invested a lot of money in their products, what a waist. very angry with Presonus, and do not intend to have anymore of their products in my little studio. I don't have a lot of money, to reinvest, and Im sure theirs no chance in getting them repaired, they really let me down.

The same thing happen to me, i was in a middle of a gig and it made popping sound and the was it's a flaw that the presonus 16.4.2 have.

Just lost the usb side of an AR22 Studio Live. The board had been working fine connected to the same MacBook Pro for several years first running Studio Pro 3 Artist, then recently upgrading 4 Pro and shortly afterwards because we were in the grace period we were able to upgrade to version 5 of Studio One Pro. All was well and good for about a little more than a week. Last night I heard a terrible steady pulsing clipping sound and thought another connected device had lost sync or something but after having pulled everything including the USB to the computer the AR22 just kept pulsing. I noticed that it was only the super channel that brings back the return signal from the DAW that was affected. I could mute the channel and it was fine and I could switch the channel from USB mode to SD card mode and it would stop but for a very faint clicking at the same pulse rate. The analog side of the board appears unaffected. It’s only the super channel that has the problem. It also is not being able to be recognized as a connected device by the DAW any longer. I used the same usb cable and connected the DAW on the same MacBook Pro to an Mackie ProFx 12 I had laying around and that unit connects just fine although it can only pass one stereo track to the DAW compared to the 22 separate channels of audio that the AR22 could and there is no stereo return available. But I digress. Has anyone else had problems with the USB side of your AR22 fail and were you able fix it? Pulling power and letting it sit a while before rebooting doesn’t stop it from its steady pulsing - again with no inputs selected and no Bluetooth devices connected and with the Bluetooth disengaged.

UPDATE: I have 2 studio lives and they have both fried. I also have mixers by Yamaha, Midas, Soundcraft, Dynacord and Behringer and have had no problems with them ever. I highly recommend everybody stay far away from Presonus. Their products are badly made, and their repair service is way too expensive.

I know it´s 7 years sin the original post... but anyway, glad to read in the comments that you got it sorted! I bought a Presonus 16.4.2 back in 2012 too, used for live gigs quite intensively for about 3 and a half years and never had any problem… then put it in storage (in it´s proper flight case in a dry garage) and didn´t use it for nearly 3 years… Now I´m setting up my studio again and planned to use it just for the studio... I set everything up, it worked fine... but after 15 minutes, boom... same glitchy sound as on your video and the whole thing froze! I rebooted, it worked again, but then after 10 minutes same thing! Soooo fustrating, I was so looking forward to setting my studio up! I´m thinking of getting a power conditioner anyway, hoping that might help!? Also reading in the comments, maybe an update of the firmware might do it!? Also there´s a comment in Spanish saying to open up the right side of the desk, unplug and plug in again the 20 pin cable... so might give that a try too! Anyway… the wonders of digital desks hey!! :)

Same here I have a 16.4.2 and was doing a live gig for a wedding and the board crapped out and the sound was very annoying, blown speakers to.
