Fantastic. I have always wondered why not more synths were paraphonic (polyphonic playing but only one filter etc) before real polyphony became affordable. My first “polyphonic” was the original Korg Mono/Poly. It surely was good enough for my skills. I assume this is paraphonic to? It would be great to be able to look at a circuit diagram of your design.
@noystoise13 күн бұрын
yes, this has a paraphonic filter. it can be single or multi triggered, though. the 12 different timbres have their own individual poly-envelopes programmed. it's a little bit of everything 😁
@marcbrasse74712 күн бұрын
@@noystoise poly presets with their own envelopes ?! Almost like the Polymoog then. Excellent! 👍👍👍👍
@marcbrasse74712 күн бұрын
@@noystoise Including the 2 filter trigger options is another important option, although I’d normally be using single myself.
@noystoise11 күн бұрын
it's kind of excessive, but the idea was to be able to set different EGs to different modes at the same time
@marcbrasse74711 күн бұрын
@@noystoise yeah, that would need one programmable EG per mode for paraphonic use even multiplied with the number of voices to have make things fully polyphonic. Even the Polymoog did not provide that sort of programmability. And it things would not stay as compact anyway. But if you are in for another challenge I have a suggestion for you. What about the Mid 70ies Yamaha E70 organ? It has digital oscillators but everything down stream is still analog. I made mine fully programmable per section and even added a solo instrument on top based on the CSY organ to get to something very akin to the Yamaha GX1. You would however need more space and a sturdy floor. Furthermore it is difficult to keep them going because of the old components. If you are interested in more look up Son Of GX. I even wrote a complete customisation guide! 😁

I appreciate the work it takes to build and tune this I bought a used Arp Oddessy when I was 17 back in 1986. It came with a stack of photocopied sound sheets, the only way to reproduce a sound you like. It was a maddeningly hard instrument to use and monophonic, seemingly only useful for someone recording solo synth work. No band has the tolerance to wait for you to find the sound.
@noystoise13 күн бұрын
thank you! I would imagine a lot of synth designers are like me in that they don't play well, and/or have never played live with others 😂
@alexanderkeys103812 күн бұрын
Getting a good sound quickly takes practice, like a lot of other things. You soon learn to set the knobs for the kind of sound to suit the music and othe rmusicians, before even hitting a note, then it's just slight adjustments as you're playing.
@noystoise11 күн бұрын
that would probably be pretty frustrating on anything I have ever made. probably why bands just tour with reliable synths like korg and Nord make😁

Another masterpiece! The case and panel reminds me a lot of the Soviet-era "Aelita" synth. Never played one, only a "Polivoks" which has to win the award for worst key bed of all time. Great sound though. Your work inspires me and I'm sure many others to create their own electronic instruments - something we sorely need in this age of endless nostalgia recycling and homogenous VSTs. Just curious, do you use the PT2399 for your integrated delay / reverb circuits?
