My first experience hearing this version of Wildwood Flower. I'm a fan of Lee Moore since early 1950's, now age 85 I love him and his music even more.

Lee put me to sleep many nights back then. I met him many times later on in life. What a nice fella, and a jokester.

I probably watched Chan play a couple hundred times. He consistently blew me away with his banjo and mandolin playing. I never thought to look up him on KZbin. I'm blown away and it's such a special time to see him again.

Oops - maybe it's either Dick Bowden or Paul Silvius on banjo; however, the resemblance to Jimmy Gaudreau is right there.

Yes it is Dick on banjo. Also Butch DeForge on Bass, and Sky travis on Dobro.

Excellent and, yes, RIP Herb Applin, one of the great N.E. bluegrass musicians. Q: besides Herb and Bea Lilly (also great), who are the other musicians? Almost looks like Jimmy Gaudreau, of all people, on BANJO! but I'm sure it's not. Also they're all dressed like the the old Lilly Brothers, Don Stover, Tex Logan "Confederate Mountaineers" esp. the banjo man wearing jodhpurs and riding boots!

Very nice tone. That's a unique tail piece on that 27. Didn't Os have a tail piece like that on one of his Dobros? I've heard it called a "pinched H" tailpiece and recall that they were most common on Harmony Stella guitars back then.

Hey Jim i listened to you year's ago you are one of best Dobro picker's i have heard ,i have been playing for over 20 year's , i noticed that you don't use a capo?, at least on videos i have seen, i don't use a capo either for the reason most time's you have to retune, i'm thinking that's reason you turned your dobro to "A" turning ? well anyway Jim hope your'e in good health and still playing i have an Original dobro that i bought back 20 some year's ago it's given me a lot of pleasure over year's Jim, so you take care stay safe and be careful, wonderful dobro video!
@jim7233 Жыл бұрын
Hi Stan, thanks for the nice comments ! I do occasionally use a floating type capo if I'm doing a fast song that's not in G or A depending what Dobro I'm using. I don't have to retune though. I usually like the A tuning, as that is what Oswald used. Jim
