Omg! I just watched your first video of you leaving five guys, decided to skip ahead to see if you were still in Japan and next thing I know, I hear you speaking japanese. I'm so happy to see that you have learned so much in such a short amount of time.

Are you a Kyoto City JET or a Kyoto Prefecture JET?
@SliceofMikeJP Жыл бұрын
Neither actually, haha. I’m a Kyoto municipal JET in Uji City. Municipal JETs usually have elementary and/or junior high schools- which is what I have!

👋, you know, moving to Japan you can’t bring a the American behaviour into their culture. Japanese people are very civilised and they have so many rules, like: No speaking loud into the public transport No smoke and drink alcohol on the public’s spaces But this rules are good for you if you respect their culture and rules. Success in Japan 🇯🇵👍👏

Great video: ? - was it hard to get the JET job?
@SliceofMikeJP Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It wasn't hard per se, but there were a lot of things that needed to be in order for the entire application, interview, and acceptance process. I plan on making a video about it soon!

Hey, cool content, but what are you using to study Japanese? I wanna go back and live in Japan someday and your videos are inspiration for me to keep trying. 😎
@SliceofMikeJP Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Right now, I'm using a variety of vocabulary and kanji books to learn. I also take Japanese classes once a week to learn things that textbooks don't necessarily teach!

hey Mike! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the snow festival! I recently moved to Sapporo to work for an eikaiwa and I was here just in time for the snow festival :D I visited several times and loved seeing the great variety of sculptures. At night they had a light projection show on the large 'building' sculpture which showed a timeline of Sapporo's history. Apparantly, 2022/23 was Sapporo city's 100th year anniversary! I remember the festival being PACKED though, and it was hard to get good pictures. Next time you come to Sapporo, you should check out the underground shopping malls! Aurora Town and Pole Town are connected underground and have a great variety of goods. During winter, the ちかほ (underground walkway) connects these malls and the subway stations (Sapporo, Odori and Susukino stations) with an underground walkway that makes it super convenient. Also, people tell me that Hokkaido is a great place to visit in the summertime because it's warm but not too hot. Hokkaido is famous for many things, including its lavender fields in the summer. So whether you choose to come in the winter again, or any other season, Hokkaido and Sapporo have so much to offer! Ps. Did you try Hokkaido's corn tea? :D

Dude I need to go to Japan but idk if it’s too expensive 😢
@SliceofMikeJP Жыл бұрын
In my experience, the most expensive part about coming to Japan was actually GETTING here. With the current prices for flights... It's a lot more expensive than it usually is. However, once you get here, lodging, food, transportation, and entertainment is fairly inexpensive. But do some research on which areas you'd like to stay in beforehand! Good luck :D
