Sale of the Century ( stylized as Sale of the Century) is an American television game show that originally debuted on September 29, 1969, on NBC daytime. It was one of three NBC game shows to premiere on that date, the other two being the short-lived game shows Letters to Laugh-In and Name Droppers. The series aired until July 13, 1973, and a weekly syndicated series began that fall and ran for one season - the game consists of contestants answering general knowledge questions. At certain points during the game, the player currently in the lead is offered an Instant bargain a prize to keep regardless of the game's outcome in exchange for a certain amount deducted from that contestant's score.

Grundy subsequently launched an Australian version of Sale of the Century.

WPXI Pittsburgh in da House. The Fort Pitt tunnel accident referenced at the top of the video happened on 10/17/1985, so the airdate here is probably 10/17 or 10/18/85, and the accident happened in the morning of the 17th, as per a web search. This was the week on the syndicated version the Fame Game went to the PYL format seen here.

@@IvoryM1986 I was figuring out the airdate from the news event mentioned at the top of the video. Time Machine and the Silver Spoons reruns and Your Number's Up did not air in Pittsburgh, unless maybe WPTT picked them up, as they did pick up CHuck Woolery WOF around 1981 IIRC.
