R.L. Burnside, and I split sets with the Legendary Blues Band back in the Fall of '86 in Wichita, Kansas. Sad Muddy wasn't around, though they were great, and very cool people. When they left town after the gig I'll never forget looking out a window, and seeing the drummer Willie "Big Eyes" Smith standing out in the cold filling up their vans gas tank so they could head back to Chicago. I wondered how many thousands of miles they'd all traveled to give everyone their great music....and with R.L. for another 8 years I was beginning to be a small part of it...I felt lucky.

Hi William…thank you so much for posting these videos!!! Les taught me how to run sound & I worked with all of these guys before the formed the Monday Night All Stars when Les was still doing sound & playing at the Stanleyville Grille & so many more & it’s so great to hear them after so many years…I have board tapes I made of them floating around somewhere lol. Thanks again ☮️❣️😎🙏

Ah, the double entendres used throughout make this a song Victoria Spivey could've sung...set in a Ray Charles" What Did I Say?" mode. The guitar solo by Margolin is so tuneful, well structured, it can be hummed easily. One of the best blues tunes.

The first time I saw him play was on Maxwell St. 65/66? The rawest blues I ever heard. Followed him all over Chicago.

They made it to Champaign for a regular gig at the Ruby Gulch every month for nearly two years. My pals and I had an inside with this band (The Houserockers) as Brewer was “dating” our 16 year old friend Nancy. Tsk tsk. Disqualified for Attorney General. 😂
