Disappointed in this video. It just repackaged Nate's video which I had just watched. A fun summary of Grant's early work & that's it.

Not too proud of it either, I made it when I was like 16 just because it seemed like an interesting topic to me at the time. The quality is pretty bad and so is the content.

The probably was steering away from more industrial and engineering based projects, and even when grants projects were simpler he used those simple concepts and explained how they can be used in various contexts I’m excited for their new host, he doesn’t seem as afraid to get his hands dirty with scarier types of projects, Nate and Callie were great but the content they were hosting just wasn’t for me, hoping this new era of TKOR that seems to be coming into shape will take elements from the entire history of the channel and do great things in honor of a great man

dont need to watch this video and it doesnt need to be 16 minutes. the views fell because nate and callie were fired. they were popular, they were hired by grant (may he rest in peace) and his wife decided she wanted to cut them for a more annoying host (grace).

My theory is that it will come to the point where the TKOR channels get deleted permanently, however, the videos that are actually good and memorable will stay and the 5-minute-crafts-based videos will be deleted. These non-deleted videos may be transferred to another source as an archive. Any videos that Grant, his wife, Nate, and Callie are in, will be kept. Any other person in those videos will be excluded.

That was really cool, I'm considering doing something similar to this next summer. Were there any unexpected problems? And would you actually recommend doing it?
@notthomasjoel3 ай бұрын
If you watch the video until the very end, I mention that I am going for a solo 40-day-long tour from Norway this summer. There were quite a lot of problems during the tour, but in the end it was all worth it. But travelling on a bicycle isn't for everyone. It's physically and mentally hard. Also getting the needed gear costed me around 1600€. For me, it was all worth it, but I recommend firstly going for a smaller tour to find out if you actually like this way of travelling.
@j3tus153 ай бұрын
@@notthomasjoelI know it isn't for everyone, but I think I might enjoy it because I really like camping and exploring new places but walking around is extremely slow and exploring really random and unique places is harder to do by car/public transport. And I'll go on a few day trip with the stuff I already have these summer holidays, I'll just bike around Czechia (where I'm from:D) Also I know the gear isn't cheap, especially a good bike
@niclas96513 ай бұрын
The Czech Republic is a good place to start. If you notice that you like bicycle touring I'd recommend Hungary or Slovenia, as you don't need to worry about dogs and you can camp basically anywhere thoughtfree. Perfect for beginners in my opinion :)

@@j3tus15 U dont need an expensive bike for this, for instance Decathlon has great value bikes for the price and good warranty, what I would highly recommend is to learn how to service your bike during the trip if anything happens and take spare spokes, inner tubes, multitool, tire levers.. A lot of people are missing Nate and Callie and I get that completely, but I personally stopped watching after Grant's death because the style of the videos shifted from "let's make an Arc furnace" to "what happens if I put a piece of coal into freezer ". I would say that Nate returned to the old style of videos to a certain extent on his new ytb channel, but it just doesn't feel the same.

Grant always struck me as someone who succeeded in just about everything he did. It's a shame that success on KZbin meant chasing views, though, because it really killed the soul of the channel IMHO. To be clear, for me, the decline started before Nate was brought on board, and I could tell that Grant was burning out.

I can only speak for myself but I stopped watching when it went from “look at this cool thing, now I’m going to tell you how you can do it and why it happens that way” and changed to “smile, candy, improvised fidget toy!” To prove my point one of their most recent videos is titled “what is the most lickable surface in NYC” the video in question is a month old and hasn’t even hit 25k so while your prediction is that it will stop posting is close drawing (I’m posting on the 6th of jan) I think it safe to say your right while not officially “dead” it’s not going to come back from this, what a sad way to end grants legacy….

I shopped watching KOR videos when they started doing the "we are going to put pixie sticks in a cotton candy machine to see what happens" and soon after unsubscribed. They need to create a KOR classic channel and just put all the Grant videos on it so they are easier to find.

TKOR was one of the first channels I subscribed to and I even built a bunch of the devices he did (I haven't built the hydrogen generator yet, my previous neighbors would have called the cops on me). I didn't like it when Nate replaced Grant but he grew on me, and I loved the addition of Calli (I have a thing for redheads). but when they added Grace and the others I was afraid they were just chasing the algorithm and a lot of the experiments were just rehashing previous stuff. And when they fired Cali I got mad, when they fired Nate I got pissed. I unsubscribed that day, and I subscribed to Nate the moment I found out he had a channel, even though his content hasn't been great as of lately (he's currently doing "Will this cotton candy" or "What happens if I put this in a Vacuum or Liquid Nitrogen") but I can accept that knowing that Nate is one guy (or a really small team, I don't know) vs the large team TKOR had become. R.I.P. Grant, I will only remember the good times

I used to watch TKOR but I stop ~2 years ago (As of the end of 2023). The channel had good momentum after Grant's death, but I noticed how the channel slowly started talking to viewers as children. I remember it went from interesting experiments, and survival tips. To them making a giant version of XYZ, and then become nothing but advertising as content. I unsubscribed then. Honestly, just end the channel already. Keeping zombie of a channel alive is just an insult to Grant.

Scroll through the old video after they're all nonsense and trash completely the opposite of what it used to be about with some exceptions of some videos. It should be called tkor anymore its just a disgrace at this point. I'm go look at this channel now to see what a bigger disappointment it has become. Rip Grant. We love Grant ❤

TKOR was not my favorite channel back then, because it wasn't so much deeply based on science as I would have liked it to be. But now when I look back, the quality and educational values of his content just doesn't compare to what we encounter on the recommendation feed these days. Rest in peace Grant.

I always loved the creativity he had with the Proto-Putty videos, I made some of my own but it didn't turn out as good - I suspect because I didn't mix the corn starch well enough. It was still a super neat concept. Personally, the charisma behind the videos fell off after grant vanished, and as a kid I held a grudge against nate for it. As an adult, I respect and understand grant's decision, and feel for the position it put nate in. It's a shame to see the state of the channel these days.

This is a year later but I stopped watching because they disgraced Grant's memory. Nate and Callie were dedicated to keeping Grant's memory alive by continuing with the same kind of content that made Grant amazing. The content from Grant was genuinely interesting and was stuff I wanted to do like making ice cream with dry ice. When Grant left the channel to Nate he had already been in Grant's videos long enough that he grew on me and I loved him, I felt he had great chemestry with Grant and embodied the spirit of the channel and when Callie came on I felt she was also a great fit so when Grant took a backseat I was okay with it because Nate and Callie were pretty much the perfect people to have to host the channel. I was greatly saddened when Grant passed away but Nate and Callie kept up the pace with the channel as far as I could see and they continued to make great content, but when I saw that TKOR axed them I was very pissed off so I stopped watching and unsubscribed immediately and I subscribed to Nate's personal channel. I tried out a couple of their recent videos at the time but it just wasn't the same, I didn't know any of the current hosts, I didn't like any of the current hosts, and they were just bland. Mostly I stopped watching because Nate and Callie were the successors, Grant trusted them 100% with the channel and when he passed I felt they were just thrown out. I don't care why they were let go, all I cared is that the two people who kept Grant's memory alive were kicked out and as far as I'm concerned that's when TKOR died.

I used to really love TKOR, Grant's videos and Nate/Calli's videos had different vibes, but they were both fun, and Nate and Calli bounced off each other in a great way. I stopped watching much at all when they brought on Grace and the other younger hosts, cuz it felt like they were really trying to cater to a young teen audience instead of a general weird science audience, but finding out that Nate and Calli were fired was the final straw. Just proves my theory that youtube becomes way less enjoyable when a company is in charge rather than a small team of passionate people.
