So why was it so important to make the substrate impermeable? Would it not be beneficial for the water to infiltrate into ground? This would be a more natural system, need much less engineering and reduce the surface flow.

Amazing Lab equipment, Technically the same kind I was Supervising before, by the way what standard does Cirtex NZ folllow on testing Geotextile? we are using ASTM and EN ISO.

During the optionering phase what was the alternative to this design? how did the area get finished? Why didn't they construct a retention pond?

Thanks for your question, Mat. The answer to your question is that there were some stormwater ponds considered around the site for stormwater management, but the subsurface Triton System was the desirable option since all the land above could be made into a usable recreational area. The deeper installation enabled better soakage into the soil strata located at the base of the system.

Install posts to a depth of 800mm? That would be 32 inches deep.
