When I was a teenager I listened to Focus. I bought the Introspections albums because it was Thijs van Leer, not sure what to expect but 45 years later I'm still listening and still mesmerised.

He is undoubtedly a virtuoso and musical genius. Classically trained, his technique his flawless and classical works bring out the best of him. It was amazing that he and Jan Akkerman, blues based guitarist of equal virtuosity and genius, were able to work together in Focus, producing the classic albums of the early 70's. I have his first Introspection album that introduced me to Fauré and Albinoni, and also some Bach. Happy days!

Around 6 mins in, you realize that this is the ancient robo-baroque they found playing on the Villa Straylight when they exhumed 3Janes body.

lot's of spectral/additive synthesis. Weird, but cool and highly dynamic sounds/tracks/things. Good recording as well!

I used to have the Introspection 2 vinyl LP in... get ready for this... quadraphonic sound. It was the latest rage back in the 70s.

His collaborations with Rogier van Otterloo were beautiful.

How come there's a cathedral of sound coming from his bass? (Normally they sound like sloths wrestling in mud.)
