Nice video. And excact the cahanging of the battery's the reason why I don't like this car and prefer the Astute. Bit this is my only convern about this car. You did a great paint job. And I like how it runs.

I agree, the battery install & removal sucks... but it's not all that bad after a few times doing it.. The slop in the steering, typical Tamiya fair there. Body looks great all blue, thanks for that idea.. It's a great running buggy, even in grass and the wood chips didn't seem to hurt it much. I think it hold it's own going head to head with comp level 4wd buggies, if set up the same i.e. tires, motor, battery, gearing and a non bias driver... All in all, I like mine and it's proven to be a tough buggy, I was jumping @ 4 foot dirt hill and only bent the rear wing. Awesome video Gabe and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!!!!

Very cool to see this chassis going together mate. People say it drives very well once those few essential parts are replaced (as you illustrated) I've tried to like this car so much in view of getting one,but unfortunately i just cant get passed that body!! 😅 I was kinda hoping that we would see other new cars coming out on this platform in the future......but now i think this will be highly unlikely. However,i did love the custom one Glenn at Tamiya legends done,so something like that may be an option. Look forward to seeing yours in action fella.😊👍 👍

Thanks. At the time of release, it was not badly priced. It's more the body (and the link with the Avante) that was controversial. Then the diff nut issue arised. Of course, at discounted price, it's quite a bargain (hex hardware, oils shocks, full ball bearings), even if you add 2-3 upgrades 👍🤝

There are several issues. Some attended with the blue metal diff nut. Some "covered" in next part (steering play, battery change). The body can be changed to a Revive RC who is more elegant. It can also be nicely painted (TRF style or equivalent as did Ari at RC Retro). The name can't be changed, so it's a TD4 😆🤝
@Paul__FC

Thanks guys. Yeah the diff nut is the big take away. I think I'm picking one up and will just up grade the nut as I would bearing. If that's really the only down side it isn't bad. Not like chassis snapping in half. If it's discontinued it don't want to be it that boat.

0:58 TA08 "Here it is!!" Reminds me of Kogashiwa Kai pulling of the Crazy Shortcut in Initial D🤣 But how could you take such seemingly impossible tight space And only 0.14s gap between the slowest and the fastest laptime... Anyway thanks for the upload✌ I have to say I was surprised by the result. I thought TA08Pro would surely outperform TT02, even with the same body and motor turns. I guess if the temperature were higher, the result would have been a lot more different. But this is why i love this kind of comparison! The outcome can be unpredictable.

Nice run with TT02! ❤‍🔥 (Mandatory upgrades hahaha) I think TT02 is really capable for the price. Looking forward to upcoming contenders💪 By the way, in order to deepen the analysis of the 5 Laps challenge, i was wondering if you could answer to the following🙇 Q1 It looks like struggling on taking tight turns. It makes sense if no modification of the steering was done. Did you do some kind of modification to increase the maximam steering angle? Q2 I was not familiar with the tire used so I googled it. It turned out Hudy 803062 also has "A1 36" in its name. does that mean the tires are in fact summer tires? That could explain why the tail of TT02 someitmes swinged out, particularly at the slalom... Q3 How long did you warp up with TT02 before doing the time trial? Q4 Did you already run 3 cars on the same day with relatively short time intervals? Q5 If you could, I would appreciate if you also add Motor KV and gear ratio, hopefully also the weight of the car to the despriptions, so that it would be easier to analyze and compare the time and setups of each cars, and the relation between them;) I beleive, if there were no fishtailing on the slalom or struggles on the hairpin turns, Ave 9.8s, Min 9.6s were within possibility. Though it would require further adjustments and practice I guess😂 I am curious how your TT02 is measured up against other chasses!
@coygtrc
@coygtrc Ай бұрын
So many questions 😁🤝 1. I usually limit steering travel. I have so little times that I do not play much with settings 🫤 2. These tires were used as standard for asphalt race in Switzerland. And I do not treat them. I probably lack some smoothness 😁 3. I usually go straight in a 5 laps session. Once I reach what I think a hard deck (here under 50), I stop. I have every lap in audio in an earphone, so I have some pressure 😅 4. I usually take 2, due to lack of time. I did 4, but when I had the off-road "venue". 5. Will add some infos in a google sheet for my own soon to come designed layout. As for weight, it's trickier. I have those 4x scale corners, but forget to use them 😅 Of course, by using a different approach, lap times could be better. Like doing a 5 minutes training, then let the motor cool, and starting 5 laps session, instead of jumping directly into the 5 laps. On a 5 minutes race, my PB was around 9.6. 🤝
@SakuraRcJapaner
@SakuraRcJapaner Ай бұрын
@@coygtrc Thank you very much (and really sorry!) for answering all of them! As a reseracher I was really curious the exact setup and conditions to analyze hahaha. Now everything makes sense to me. I also sometimes do some comparison time trials but the time is always lacking. The other day I did 12 cars, 2 mins warm up and 3 mins trial. But some cars needs definitely more time to get used to and to get a decent average time😂 My skill is not good enough to set consistent lap times so I cannot run less than 10 laps. So 3 mins is the minimum time I need. Also I do understand "the pressure" of hearing each lap time. It is a great feedback to think about what was good or bad on the last lap, and try to improve the next lap time hard, which is motivating. Usually the lap time makes sense but sometimes disappointing, like "why was the last lap not the best one?!"😂 I do not know which is better to do the time trial, with hearing each lap time while running or not. Maybe I would like to try the both but it would be extremely difficult to prove or get the distinct tendency... Anyway, thanks for the reply and looking forward to the next upload!🤜

Stunning job Gabriel!! This is one of my favourite parts of the hobby- Taking vintage cars that have had a fairly hard life,totally taking everything back to parts,cleaning,servicing and replacing before finally re assembling. And in some instances a brand new body to finish it all off! This whole process is a lot easier if the model has been re released and new parts are cheap and readily available.....a bit more of a challenge when doing obsolete cars.😮 I've done a couple of 959s,a Celica GRB,a monster beetle,clod buster,mud blaster and Midnight pumpkin. (all original 80s models) Got a few more to do as winter projects. Glad to see you using the correct brush separator tool on the technigold mate. These motors were built to last,and are very easy to service.....i have quite a few in the collection. Getting hard to find new brushes these days though!
