Jordi Savall is my musical hero. When I heard the soundtrack of “Tous les matins du monde” the first time I was in tears. No performance had ever touched me at the very innermost level before-and I’m a professional musician! Since then I have listened to his recordings over and over again and have attended some of his concerts. I’m even learning to play the 7 string bass viola da gamba thanks Savall. Thank you for making this wonderful visit with Jordi Savall possible.

I had the pleasure of seeing Amanda live quite a few times. She has one of the most beautiful voices ever sang baroque music.

Sublime! Handel and John Gay what a winning combination. Beautifully executed. Such delightful harmony. Thank you!

This piece is transcendental. When I heard it for the first time, I was transfixed. I thought it was a modern piece, not Baroque. Incredible.

Maestro, long may you live. Two years on and I'm watching this is great anticipation of the privilege of seeing him in performance for the very first time. It will be an experience I know I'll treasure as long as I live.

I'm so excited to watch this, especially after seeing the amazing performance of Orfeo nell'Inferi from Campra's Carnaval de Venise - it was absolutely hilarious and I've come back many times to watch it again!

Is this opera available on blu-ray or dvd?
@bostonearly4 ай бұрын
I'm afraid not. While we'd love to produce our operas for a DVD release, the productions costs are prohibitively high. We did make a studio recording of this opera which is available on the CPO label.

We have been able to share some of our part operas virtually, but only for limited periods of time. We'd love to share some of this archival video again, but there are no current plans. Some of our archival clips on our channel do feature dance segments, including this excerpt from our 2019 production of Steffani's Orlando Generoso: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYWndGCDns6KZ9E

Do we think J.S. Bach knew anything about the improvised counterpoint and large scale mirror canons like those described in this talk? Because I haven't ever heard about music like this outside of that of the Master of Eisenach.

I remember Professor Bernstein from when I was an undergrad at Tufts in the mid to late 70s. I never got to take any of her courses, but I was introduced to Monteverdi by another faculty member which helped kindle my interest in Early Baroque Music. I would have loved to have learned from her!
