Eileen means island. not a woman's name. As someone with a long family association with Skye and the Hebrides its a wee bit offensive to watch a video of some totally ignorant people disrespecting the local culture. Fortunately, knobheads like these guys are in the minority and most videos i see on Skye and the western highlands show respect by at least knowing what it is they are looking at. Advice: make an efffort to educate yourself about where you are going and be conscious that posting a video full of invalid info about a place is doing no-one any favours. eh?

Hi Brian, and thanks for the comment. WouId I buy another pair? I would, yes. They have proved to be very robust and hard-wearing, and even now still look great when cleaned and re-waxed. I use them with a pair of "aftermarket" insoles I took from my Scarpa 4 Season boots, and they are very comfortable indeed. I'm off to the Isle of Skye in the next few days for a week of landscape photography, and space is limited on what I can take - these are boots will be the only item of footwear I'm taking - I don't need anything else. I will be wearing them for over 16 hours a day, and on the mountains, on the beaches and for general knocking about. They are like an old friend!! 😁

@@michaeldutsonlandscapephot2184 Many thanks for your detailed reply .. about your 'old friends' I only recently learnt about Grisport and was surprisd to learn their HQ is at Cramlington, only about 10 miles from where I live. Luckily my wife goes to Cramlington every so often for her eye check and we are going today. I'll pop into the Grisport shop and take a look and try a few pairs on. Sadly though, I might buy them later online, as for some strangre reason, they are cheaper from 3rd party stores than from the shop and website of Grisport. Sometimes there are free socks, so will see what's best; just have to try them on for size first. Regards from Whitley Bay

A remake?? Hmmm.. I may do. Great boots too.. I still have them, and tend to wear them all the time when out doing landscape photography. As I noted to Clive earlier, I don't tend to post much stuff on KZbin... whilst I enjoy video editing, my current view is that it's just too time consuming with too little reward - and work just gets in the way. Thanks for taking the time out to comment, very much appreciated. 👍🏻👍🏻

CliveI How the bloody hell are you? I did mean to come back and do a sequel to this, but never got around to it, as you can never properly judge a pair of boots until you've been out in them a few times and worn them in a bit. I still have them, and wear them regularly so must be reasonable. I did start out doing walking stuff on here as I'd been a keen hillwalker since the early 90's, but the photography got in the way of the walking stuff. Now, I just don't tend to bother posting on KZbin - too much effort filming and editing for very little reward. I have a lot of half edited videos of photography trips that I'll probably never get around to posting up. Hope the birthday went well the other week. 👍🏻

Hi Dan, That's bad news. I was contacted out of the blue via Twitter and offered a pair of boots to review back in 2015. I'm not affiliated in any way to Grisport. I do still wear the boots they sent to me and must have done over 600 miles in them, and apart from the Scarpa Manta's I bought back in '92 and still wear, they are the best boots I have ever used (and I've had some boots!). I was contacted initially by their PR/Ad company in the UK via Twitter, so Grisport, the actual Italian Company is not doing the Twitter feed. I have had no contact with them now for four years. If I were in your situation I would write an actual letter, on paper, and send it to their UK office, or the importer via recorded post. I find that as most communication is done electronically today, to actually receive a letter of complaint stands out among the thousands of emails received, and in my experience does elicit a response from companies - it also provides a good audit trail should you have to take legal action. It has worked for me several times when dealing with the shocking "Customer Service" provided by telephone and broadband companies. I wish you every success in resolving this matter.

@michaeldutsonlandscapephot2184

The sweeping shots are pretty simple really. I use a handheld gimbal and a GoPro 4 for the face to camera stuff, but I also have a GoPro 7 for other uses. I slip the GoPro 7 into the gimbal and fix the gimbal onto the mount on a Manfrotto walking pole. The walking pole is a bit like a monopod really (www.manfrotto.com/uk-en/off-road-walking-sticks-red-mmoffroadr/). I then put the GP7 into 120fps and use the walking pole like a jib; it is quite effective really. I warp stabilise the shot in Prem Pro and then use it in the clip. Needs a couple of takes to get it right, but it works a treat!

@@alchemy3264 The change in the boundaries was only for administrative areas. The true County boundaries still exist and are recognised by the Post Office. There is an organisation called Friends of Real Lancashire and they go into a detailed explanation of how The Local Government Act of 1974 didn't change the long standing, historic borders. Try and find "Greater Manchester" boundary signs on a road, or even the boundary on an OS map - it's not there. In essence it hasn't existed since the abolition of the GM Council back in 1986. It has been out of existence longer than it was in existence and people still assume it to be a "County". It's a bizarre situation.
