@@JoseAlvarez-dl3hm I guess resale value for the Kawa will be more. CF is still relatively unknown and not (yet) wanted on the secondhand market. For me that would be an important thing to consider. Both bikes don't have too much power, if you are looking to step up to the bigger bikes later this would be an important thing to keep in mind. For the rest I guess these bikes are very similar, riding one next to the other probably you will like one more than the other, so I would definitely recommend a test ride.

Keep an eye on the channel. I've tested the 800 explore too and I was sold! The only real differences on the explore that matter for me were the quick shifter and a better throttle response. I think they really missed an opportunity with this 'sport' version by giving this bike a 19 inch front wheel. With a 17 inch front wheel, quick shifter and the mapping of the explore this would be an absolute beast!

Very good review. I have a 2018 RT and although I too find the suspension quite adequate, I will be replacing the shocks this off season with Trac Tive shocks to help the RT to absorb those typical road imperfections. I also bucked up for a Bren Tune. I haven’t ridden the bike enough to truly evaluate the Bren Tune but initial impressions are favourable. Again, sharing your thoughts is what we bikers tend to do. Appreciated.

Here's one of the main reasons, im seriously considering buying this bike. I cannot remember a review, that the person riding the bike, really accelerated hard for the first time, didn't laugh out loud in their helmet. This is a strong reason to know you will love it. I came upon this awesome video while researching how to get confident taking corners. I can see the rider in front was counter steering, brilliantly so. I thought your ride was extremely technical and showed a lot of confidence and planning without hesitation. Can I ask you if your preference was to lean into the curve of counter lean?
@ChasingCurves.
@ChasingCurves. 5 ай бұрын
Hi Steve, thanks for the comment! Generally I like to counter lean in the slower corners and lean into the curve on high speed corners. On a road like the one in the video, counter leaning was probably the best for most corners. Very few motorbike riders know to take turns using the "security trajectory" (exterior-exterior-interior) like he does, most bikers look at moto GP and think the "race trajectory" (exterior-interior-exterior) is the best suited on the road. He is likely to be a retired cop, or he must have taken some good training (the cops also regularly give free trainings to motorcyclists as part of the "prevention" mission)

@@sven7728 Hum, I alaways had the original Metzlers that come from factory and the back tire was gone after max 7000Km, having said that I only use the bike for travel and was always with 2 people and luggage, so maybe was because of the weight. Don't get me wrong, is an excelent bike, the best bike I ever had for travelling, however, I just don't have the time and the inconvenience to change the tires, my KTM 1290 changes tires every 23k Km, the GS 1200 lasted 17k Km, so yeah is a big difference.

I hope that you can make it with the channel views and also that BMW provides better time-machine availability, so you can progress (and they can earn their profits on it too!)👌🏻 The evolution about this bike is going through various levels and directions. Trying to summarize substantially, beyond tech aspects where some of them are, for some, controversial, the GS1300 solved all the items where the competition was becoming closer and closer or even better than the GS and GSA 1250. The main difference I would enlighten is the engine performance. The 1300cc boxer engine is now capable of the same than before in terms of response on the low and medium revs, but it is significantly willing and capable on the higher revs and top end power, without losing the character of the iconic GS model. The bike is now faster, lighter, nimbler and funnier to ride. There are other considerations on safety and comfort that should be addressed when analyzing such a huge Transformation job that has been made on the bike, but it would turn this comment into a different nature. It still is a simple comment on a KZbin video.

I think the reputation of bad reliability of KTM comes mainly from the early years of the LC4 engine. That was a pure bred racing engine which ripened into a broad market with the Dukes and the 600/620 enduro. Every owner of the early generations has had some issues to tell. And as bad reputation is a sticky thing, it remains in the general mindset. This said, I have to admit that my 701 enduro actually has its first major breakdown after 2,5 years - the starter is mechanically dead. But before, I had travelled 55'00 kms including 50 offroad days on her, without any issues more severe than some scratched panels and twice a broken license plate holder. So I humbly think that for the abuse my beloved Husky had to stand against, she is pretty reliable.
