Brilliant singing by the Unthanks, and striking imagery. Northumbria has seen many hard things both on land and by sea.

Thank you. Someone linked me to another video of this song, which was really pretty but completely didn't understand that it's about the press gang, and those left behind. This is (a remake of) my first video, made to correct that misunderstanding, and as a tribute to all those who were swept up in the conflicts of the 18th and 19th centuries, whether willingly or not.

Shields managed to plea its case to king and parliament, successfully, for no more press gangs. They were successful because our coal wasn't getting to London, as all the collier crews were being pressed. Funny how it is only when it affects the rich that 'something must be done'. Not like nowadays... 😏

Wedge just a natural pilot/commander. He's just plain good. They DO exist in the Star Wars universe without being "Force sensitive." Luke was a Force-user. There is a difference. The point is, you can be really good at what you do without the Force, case in point, Han or Chewie or Wedge or even Lando. The Force just gave Luke the ability to do all sorts of combination things - the Force, for lack of a better term, is a force multiplier. What Star Wars really lacks is storyline without Force users at all. They've made some decent moves towards it with Andor and the like. Disney, of course, has otherwise completely driven the concept of the Force right into the ground with their machinations and stupidity. It's like they don't understand anything.

I would argue that the the X-wing novels are about as close as anything can get to a Star Wars story without a Force user (or at least, a _known_ Force user) though there are hints fairly early on. But the character in question doesn't know it and certainly isn't trained and those hints can pass you by until it's pointed out in the text to the character. But really, as those novels focus on Wedge himself and the unit he builds, it's really not that surprising that he doesn't choose Force users; he's looking for people who are going to be good pilots.

Wedge Antilles... a minor character in the Star Wars that survived the First Death Star and ended destroying (with Lando) the Second Death Star. And now... really famous.😊

Wedge survived the trilogy, right?
@Teverell9 ай бұрын
Yes, yes he did. I can recommend the X-wing books by Michael Stackpole (the first four) and Aaron Allston (the rest), starting with Rogue Squadron, if you want more of Wedge and why he's simply the best!
