"The more money you have, the better the lawyer you can afford" that's not how it works, lawyers are not better or worse, they are simply more or less equipped and/or experienced than their contemporaries in certain avenues of law, which is why there are different branches of law, why people specialise in them and why legal firms exist at all. An individual lawyer like Jimmy can handle doing wills solo because it is not more demanding than he can handle, but even when he has a higher influx of clients Chuck tells him to hire a paralegal. Even a skilled and dedicated lawyer like Kim cannot handle Mesa Verde solo simply due to how time and resource heavy the work is - it requires a whole team to be able to handle the magnitude of the work, which is why Kim convinces Rich Schweikart to create a banking division that she can head if she joins the firm. The flaw in the judicial system (regardless of country) is that even if you are in the right you can lose simply because the other side has more money to spend dragging a case through court than you do, it's not simply a matter of whether to can afford an 'expensive lawyer' but rather if you can afford all the legal and court fees that are there regardless of whether you have a lawyer or not - there are many people who represent themselves and eventually become financially exhausted and have to give up. It becomes a war of attrition of who can afford to continue the longest, it's not because "the better the lawyer, the more likely your actions will be deemed moral and justified in a court of law" which is an absurdly childish notion. Chuck can obviously afford the best representation money can buy and has the esteem of everyone in the legal industry yet Jimmy, who is struggling financially and has to defend himself over admitting to committing a felony, wins the case. Also completely ignoring the fact that both Jimmy and Kim do public defender work, where they're being paid by the court because the clients cannot afford to pay for representation themselves. The quality of Jimmy and Kim's abilities as lawyers does not decrease, in fact both of them are shown to work extremely hard despite the limited flat fees they make from it, even when Jimmy is frustrated and borderline bankrupt and Kim could be making much more devoting her time to Mesa Verde. Kevin Wachtell showers Kim in expensive gifts in thanks for the work she does for Mesa Verde and she dislikes it so much that she gives parts of it away but treasures the simple note of thanks Diana (one of her PD clients) writes her and frames it and a picture with her - a client Kim went out of her way and even put her position with Mesa Verde on the line in order to represent.

(Personal Anecdote Incoming) My family is from Flanders (Northern Belgium) but I didn't grow up there. In general, Flanders in not a place where things change fast, or much at all, and when I was younger I would strongly associate Fanders to a sense of languishing and inactivity. In the same way, when I watched In Bruges back then I was completely on Ray's side about everything being all the same, boring, uninteresting, and dull. My sister and I would even laugh how if you look up the koniginastridpark, you'll see that barely anything has changed since 2008. And yet after moving to Bruges, I'm actually happy that it's unchanged for the most part. Even disregarding any newfound appreciations for art and achitecture that I've gained, it feels comforting to have somewhere stable to return to. A thought that I've had while watching the video, is that it is much better to move on while the city stays the same, that to stay in place while the city moves on. In conclusion, Bruges is like that senile grandpa that refuses to die and hasn't changed his sicks since the french revolution, but is nonetheless always happy to see you

Bruges is great, but it's also tiny. You could do the whole city in one day tip if you only see landmarks. Despite it's relative quaintness, after living in brussels for 5 years, Bruges is like heaven. More to the point though, as someone who has been a licensed Belgian since birth, I'm glad that the cinematic presence of bruges is this film. I mean this completely sincerely, but I don't think there is any better way to capture the essence of Bruges than this film

I really enjoyed watching your video and it made me think about Hitman in a different way again, thank you for that :D. I just want to recommend going over the video editing again. I dont know what you are editing with and how difficult that is to implement but what would make this video even more enjoyable. Some little details would be the font you use - maybe take something that is a bit closer to the game font and make it fade out a bit. The fade doesnt have to be extremely long but it is more pleasant if you have a little bit of transition (in video as well as in sound).

@@karmicbreath prime 80s Mann would've been overkill - Manhunter alone is responsible for like 50 percent of 80s drip, prime 00s Mann would've been overkill too because Mann stopped giving a fuck and started just crushing it - Miami Vice movie would look like some grayscale Bela Tarr film in comparison with what kind of visual mayhem he would conjure in Vegas - Blackhat already went in that direction somewhat and it had nowhere near as flashy locations. Vegas Mann would be a Stan Brakhage film with Valentino suits and Ricardo Villalobos Richard D James soundtrack just for the sheer hell of it.

Watching this essay now, the "they are untouchable" has now very much been flipped on its head in a very amusing manner. Yes there is no 47. But. Diana's "no one is untouchable" is ringing ever truer. Mostly due to hubris.

Much like Agent 47 himself, every element of this game is meticulously planned, it's so perfect. Not to rehash what you already said in the video but from 47's unique conversation with the woman on the bridge being in the same mission where he finally cuts ties with the ICA, to the penultimate mission where 47 voices his own mind instead of Diana or an alternative Handler, when just a few missions ago there was no opportunity for mission stories or intel because he didn't have a handler to back him up. Not to mention all of the characters that interweave within the story just giving the sense of connection no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.

Kind of has a double meaning to it. No one is untouchable, because it takes becoming a “no one” to be untouchable. Through living a life as a no one, are you untouchable.

Great video! Although I wish you had at least touched on the problematic nature of "shadowy cabal" conspiracies as essentially all deriving from antisemitic tropes. Also, part of the reason why just taking out people at the very top, despite sometimes making a big difference, doesn't necessarily lead to liberation, is because hierarchy is like a sierpinski triangle, it's fractal. Think of the racialized man who is oppressed in many ways, but also abuses his wife. "You have nothing to lose but your chains" is just incorrect. People don't want to lose whatever grip they have on *others' chains*. Hierarchy and oppression reproduce themselves at every level, in small and big ways, and it all needs to go.

kinda unrelated but what is common man to do when the native american chiefs words seem inevitable. "only when the last tree has been cut, last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will man realize he can't eat money". Start dropping dead the wealthy and the powerful in hopes someone benevolent rises in their stead?

The ending of 47 and were he ends up i think u can look at in 2 ways and it all depends on how u would look at the freelancer mode. If u dont count the freelancer mode atall then for sure i can se how 47 is back to the beginning. However i think that freelancer should be seen as the end of hes path and there is 1 very clear difference from hes Hitman 1-3 missions compared to freelancer that being who is making the choices. In the games story as u said 47 is just a tool to get something done. However in freelancer while Diana is still there by your side now shes only offering u choices of targets where beforehand she may aswell have said here kill those 2 guys becouse resons. In freelancer 47 is in full control and he can walk away from a target if he wants.

20:02 ee, when you said this, something clicked for me. It's why Colorado doesn't feel satisfying from a narrative standpoint - because the targets there are *not* powerful. They're *not* the centerpiece of a corrupt enterprise (as we learn, the militia was intended to *save* the world from Providence), and they're *not* wealthy/powerful/elite, they're just... well, they're just like 47 - extremely talented at what they do, but working on behalf of a greater power.
