Hi Matt, Thanks for the video. Is there any way to record a microphone to a seperate track at the same time the loop back is being recorded and only have the mic on the seperate track ? Hope that makes sense, Thanks
@matt-darwin7 күн бұрын
Yes, you need to make sure monitor is off for the mic track though. Set up both tracks with the relevant input, then make sure monitor is off on both and arm them to record.

Hello Mr. Darwin, I have followed with great interest your comparison with different reeds on the Tenor Saxophone, Is there a likewise test for Alto Saxophone as well? Actually I'm playing a Buffet Crampon saxophone with a Selmer D mountpiece and Vandooren Java Red 2,5 reeds. I have the Vandoren Red 3.0 also but find it difficult to play soft (playing in Concertband). I was - and still am a educated drummer for more than 40 years but wanted to learn the saxophone. Don't ask me why, maybe just because I love the sound of the instrument. Wanted to purchase a Tenor Yanagisawa 900 series but a somebody advised me not to for the time being because of possible tone loss on my Alto. True of false? I'm not justified to an opinion on that matter since I only play saxophone for three Years now. How ever, the topic of the reeds is of great interested while I tested a few already. The Selmer D with Vandooren Java Red 2.5 does it for me but that doesn't mean there could be some improvement in sound using another brand or type. I'd be happy to learn more about it. Kind regards en thank you so much for even the smallest reply.

Alto reed comparison video is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpPdlnZ8jc-lmJosi=RBBB3Dp-_zw0jNEQ At three years in I would probably suggest sticking to one horn for the moment while you get more comfortable, but whether that's tenor or alto depends on which you prefer: I would go with the one you like best, have players you prefer on that horn etc.

On this, microphone is a SAMAR AL95 ribbon, through a Warm Audio TB12 preamp (on the vintage transformer and pushed a bit). I also often use an EV RE20 or a Lauten Audio LA320 tube condenser; and very occasionally a multi mic setup. Post prod, Valhalla Vintage Verb for reverb, and then a little compression from Kush Novatron and some high shelving with a Kush Clariphonic (hardware).
