Trinidad we have lost a legend. I remember years ago the famous Bollywood singer Kunal Gangawala came to Trinidad and had a concert at Skinner Park. At the end of the concert he allowed the audience to ask him to sing any song they wanted to hear. A man stood up from the audience and said Suhani Raat. It was the only request Kunal Gangawala refused. Kunal said, 'I am good, but I know I'm not THAT GOOD'. Out of respect Kunal declined singing Suhani Raat because it's that difficult to execute correctly. Here we have our Trinidadian son Anil Bheem who sang Suhani Raat flawlessly and perfectly! Such a gifted man in our country. But what amazed me even more was seeing his last performance to the song Srivalli. Srivalli comprises of several different traditional Indian languages, all combined. The pronunciation of these words are so complex , far more as to sing it. Srivalli is an extremely difficult song of highs and lows that the greatest professional singers would not go near. Yet Anil Bheem did it flawlessly and perfectly. This man is a legend. And to imagine even with all his talent he remained a gentle loving soul. Trinidad, we were so very blessed to have this man Anil Bheem. He was loved, he was loved, he was loved. May he be rewarded for all his good deeds.
