Tbh its a better choice to buy a handheld pc over this if you already have a console.I have my Series X and a Legion Go and i’m totally satisfied with whats available to me as far as gaming goes

THIS is the review I was waiting for. I’m someone who didn’t upgrade to the PS4 Pro, so I was on the fence of upgrading for this one. I have a 120hz VRR TV, so Insomniac games already play fantastic for me. And I do have a lot of physical games, so the price including the disc drive just didn’t seem worth it to me. Thanks Parris!

Coming from a PS4 Pro, I don't see a 4x upgrade. Its still nice but I wouldn't of jumped over if I had a PS5.

Thanks so much for this honest, casual review. I got my PS5 Slim last Christmas and wasn’t really considering the Pro, but I always have that inkling of a what if. I can absolutely afford it and there’s several stores around me with Pro’s available. The value for money isn’t there, and it’s just not enough of a difference to warrant me making the switch.

I thought the whole point was not to have to choose between performance and fidelity with the pro. So to hear you still choose just eliminates the whole argument for it.

Sorry man but £800 for a mid gen refresh and a disc drive you're not gonna feel any better than you did getting a ps5 for the first time. You're more likely to feel buyers remorse. The improvements are not worth £800.🤷 The difference between the pro and ps5 standard model isn't bigger visually than the one x was from the ps4 pro.

Ps4 pro was a great mid gen refresh because of the 4k TVs that people were switching to. This gen's mid refresh was not necessary.

Sony took him like he was in jail and they didn't even have to take down his trousers. He was already unclothed and waiting. They could sell him oxygen and he'd pay them and say thank you.😂😂😂

The 2 games that have great upgrades are FF7 Rebirth and Stellar Blade. I don't know how many games will see the same uplift. Those do not look great in their performance mode on the base ps5. Also, I haven't played every game that has come out. Who has the time to play every single game? They are so long, I have less free time than the time it takes for the games to come out.

How loud humming Pro compared to Slim?

I don't expect huge magic from current gen games that already came out. I got my PS5 Pro for those future games like Ghost of Yotei or Monster Hunter Wilds. As tech goes, I'll always be a Futureproofist type of enthusiast. I also have a 4090 desktop after a 7 year stent of a 1080 laptop. But, I'll always default to console gaming for the "it just works" settings.

The plates are smaller on the slim the pro plates slightly bigger.

I really liked your honest review. However I would say 1 point that you didn't get. Which I think is extremely important. And they entire point of the ps5 pro. Is that you saw no difference on last of us on ps5 base v ps5 pro. Your not supposed to notice a difference. As the base ps5 is in fidelity mode using upscaled 4k at 30 fps. Where as the ps5 pro in pro mode is utilising upscaled 4k via pssr at 60 fps. In other words your getting fidelity at 60fps on the ps5 pro. Outside of that. Great review

I appreciate the thoughts and information in this review. I’ll be getting a Pro because I never played Rebirth, Forbidden West, and Spider Man 2, among a few other games on the list that Sony put out. According to that list on PS Blog I guess Ragnarok will be Pro enhanced in some form, maybe the update hasn’t gone live yet or something. Thanks again for the impressions 👍🏼

This was the perfect format for the review. Great discussion. I’m right on the fence with this. I was leaning towards buying it still probably will, but expectations is the big factor here. Mine are pretty low, but with low expectations it makes me wonder why I should bother at all.
