When using a sprayer, it also helps to add a colorant / dye. That way you can see where you have sprayed.

I've been thinking I should maybe move my Japanese maple, it's doing ok but it's getting a bit scorched, the tree hiding it had to be cut down so now it's full sun.

Yes, please list the free plants so they don’t go to waste. Someone will always come take them! Especially when they are perfectly healthy.

I love your designs Michelle, especially the low maintenance ones 😉. Do you prefer the winter gem boxwood to the green velvet? I think I may have made a mistake by planting 3 green velvets as a backdrop near my foundation because after 3 years they are still only about 1 ½ foot tall. My bobo hydrangea are surpassing them now. Do you think I should switch them out? Thank you for your expertise.
@gardeningTLCКүн бұрын
That is totally up to you. I like both but prefer green gems and winter gems. Not sure what size you started with but boxwoods are slower growers. They like to be fertilized in the spring.

Good advice…. Access your life in regards to your garden. I’m 68 and have arthritis issues , new knees, etc. In the passed 3 years, the deer have invaded! We have lived here for 32 years and wow … the deer now. Also my husband has helped me sooooo much with the garden chores. Trying to also go no maintenance.

I love this house and the new beds ❤ separate question about Veronica's. I bought 8 wizard of ahhs on clearance for $3 each. I want to put them in a garden that has Gravel and hard clay soil. Do you have any suggestions for successful growing? Also Michelle, where do you get your energy, I am pretty sure that you don't 😴 💤!!!!!
@gardeningTLCКүн бұрын
They are not crazy big plants so I would backfill with a mix of native soil and compost.

Salvia is deer resistant plant for sure. On many plants we see labels "deer resistant", but deers don’t read labels, so they gobble plants and shrubs like lilac. The other benefit of Salvia is that the plant really drought tolerant. I water my Salvia flowers sometimes 1-2 time per week in hot days. In spring time maybe once in 2 weeks and they do just fine. This flower is #1 for lazy gardeners or who forget to water plants

Low maintenance is a sweet song. Purple nails, purple shirt, purple flowers with splashes of white and red plus varieties of shapes equals landscaping to admire. When you own a business planning and adaptation to change and to schedules are a must. Well done.

Great video, Michelle! I have a question about how I pruned my lavender plants. I must have pruned them too far back 2 autumns ago. I got more flowers this year than I did last year; however, the plants look really pathetic. The foliage is very sparse and the flowers are very droopy. Is there anything, short of replacing them, I can do to revive my lavender plants? Please help! Thank you, Michelle.

Hi Michelle, me again lol! I have another question…I planted 5 of the Kodiak bushes and they are very small. They are abt 3 years old and the deer do taste test these and that may be my problem. Any advice to give them a jump start? I was hoping to get these to grow for they are in mostly shade but I want to hide my neighbors yard! Maybe I shld just put a fence around them. I hate 🦌 I can’t have anything nice. Fertilizer?
@gardeningTLCКүн бұрын
They only get 4 feet tall and wide....I am always amazed at what deer adapt to and will eat..yes try fertilizer. And maybe a little haircut....pruning promotes growth.

Since you don't want risk disturbing tree roots close to ground surface why not raise the soil bed by about eight inches so you can plant without concern?
@gardeningTLCКүн бұрын
Because that smothers the tree roots.

I love when you do or show landscape designs because I take ideas to put into my new/empty yard. And of course it wouldn't be complete if I didn't ask you a question😃 I'm zone 5 and are there any types of Hostas that don't touch the ground? I like the looks of them but I get creeped out trying to clean under them. Thanks for another wonderful video, I hope your 4th was a good one♥
