This man was a legend. And when he passed it didn't just send ripples through the country music industry. It shook it to its foundation and there was an entire era that came to an end when that man passed. And you know there's a lot of people that don't like his music and they're not really familiar with him....... But if you walk up to just about anybody and ask if they've heard the name Conway twitty....... There's like a 90 percent chance that whoever you ask will at least acknowledge that they've heard of him. Love him or hate him.. you've heard of him. I'm so damn lucky and blessed and thankful to have been able to see him a couple times live. And I will never forget that. I mean... I was just a kid. This would have been back in the late eighties. I think I was I don't know maybe 9 ish. Daryle singletary is the only person in my opinion that has successfully covered a Conway Twitty song. Daryle singletary covered the song I'd love to lay you down. If you've never heard it stop reading this and type it into the Google search bar trust me you won't regret it.
