I have made slight changes in the acres number for easier calculation. When the hindu male is living , the owner of that 9 acres of land belongs to - 1. the hindu male 2. the first son 3. the second son and NOT the wife. Which means each person ( father, two sons ) own 3 acres of land each. ( if ever they want to sell and if they sell, that amount will be divided by three. However if the hindu male dies.. things change differently. 3 acres belong to first son. 3 acres belong to second son. the father dies intestate. His 3 acres how to divide ? This fathers 3 acres gets divided into 1 acre plus 1 acre plus 1 acre 1 acre for his wife. 1 acre for his first son. 1 acre for his second son So, the first son gets 3 acres plus 1 acre. The second son gets 3 acres plus 1 acre The wife gets 1 acre only Bottom line is wife 1 acre first son 4 acres second son 4 acres
