This is the closest recipe to how my mom used to make it. She did use an egg in the bread mix to help it bind. Boy do I miss the Sunday sauce sessions. The house smelled so good all day - the meatballs, sausages, braciole, pepperoni, roast, fresh bread baking, tomatoes simmering, etc…

;;;;;;; NO MORE TIME!! John 3:16 For God loved the world, so He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Realize you're a SINNER! You can NOT earn your way into heaven! JESUS is the ONLY way! CALL upon His name for SALVATION! BELIEVE that JESUS is God's Son, He came in the flesh, lived a sinless life and then died on a CROSS! TRUST that God raised JESUS from the dead! By FAITH accept the shed BLOOD of JESUS ALONE as payment for YOUR SINS! God is about to pour out JUDGEMENT on the world for 7 terrible years. Only genuine Christians are about to vanish! Aliens are a LIE! May the LORD soften your hearts. Accept the GOSPEL now, the Good News of JESUS CHRIST.

Im 52 and when i was a kid, the mob ran it. Me and my friends would get a ride to Kennedy plaza, walk to the bars, get drunk, eat some hot dogs in the trailer that was downtown. walk home and have to walk through federal hill to get home in providence. Sometimes we would just get them at olneyville new york system. That was the best. That guy would line up about 10 weiners on his forearm and bring them to us

That's how my Nonni made it. Except no wine and after she seared it it went into the big pot of sauce for 2 to 3 hours. Soooo good. Melted in your mouth.

Why do some Italian Americans not pronounce the final "e/i" in many words? ... Barciol(e) ... Rigaton(i) ... Cannol(i)?! ... Not a criticism .. is it how the dialects developped as they went to the US? I'm a language nerd BTW ... and those braciole look sooooo good .... slow braised is just heaven for me! I'm half Maltese and we make our version ocalled 'braggioli" .. made with minced beef, onions, parsley and parmigiano! This chef is great!

Thanks for the Wine tip. I have been making Braciole for decades using Flank Steak but I usually cook mine for 6+ hours in my homemade simmering Mushroom gravy but now that I know Wine tenderizes the meat I can finally cut down my cooking time. 👍

While there are plenty of good restaurants here and specialty food shops, I challenge you to try to find a store that sells fresh fruits and vegetables! Italians love fresh locally grown tomatoes in the summer, but NOBODY sells fresh tomatoes or other vegetables here on Federal Hill. You CAN find them at farmers' markets, like the weekly one at Cranston Street Armory or Urban Greens Co-op on the same street. But those are not on Federal Hill. I remember with great nostalgia the pushcarts on Balboa (De Pasquale) Avenue when I was a kid. What was there back then would put what is there now to shame.

My grandmother took me The Hill to buy veggies and meats from the pushcarts. We were not rich but we feasted. The specialty shops were fantastic, and great old-timers that can't be replaced.
