Love your idea, I have a question, I also read the comments, but didn't find an answer. What kind of paint did you use? Will direct application of paint spray corrode this float? Thanks!
@bobcary77809 ай бұрын
Home Depot Krypton paint Camo color
@bobcary77809 ай бұрын
No it won't corrode the high density foam floats or PVC tubing running thru and around them

My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzbin.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

I originally had my trolling motor rigged on the side like this, but my kayak tracked on a skew. So, I rigged it onto the rear with a homemade universal joint attached to the end of the steering handle with a pvc extension attached to that that extends to the seat that allows me to turn the motor with a push pull on the pvc extension as well as the capability to control the on/off/speed control by twisting the extension.

Thanksfor sharing. Very good rundown. My experience is that the pelican style kayak cart does not work well this Ascend FS12T. The kayak is two wide. I had difficulty in putting the cart underneath the boat. eventually had to buy a ascend cart.

Some people were concerned about overloading the kayak with what I've done. Their comments are hilarious. All loaded I'm 85 to 90 pounds UNDER the kayak capacity of 350 pounds.
@bobcary77803 жыл бұрын
If you add a trolling motor your State may require you to register the kayak as a vessel. In FL it's like $35 annually. No big deal just beware because you could get fined if you have a motor without registration. Also most Marine Police require you to have a vest, a Coast Guard approved whistle and a flashlight.

You can get a light weight kayak or jet ski trailer instead of loading on the car roof and when at place that doesn't have trailer parking, disconnect the trailer and put it alongside your car. then use the wheel dolly to take her to the water .. I haven't done the trailer step yet but its a good cheaper way to transport if you need a trailer go lightweight for a few hundred bucks .. or load it on top of the car using bath mats to protect the paint

Reminds me of a Bangka. Many boat designs in the Pacific are equipped with these floaters or outriggers. They call them Proas in remote Oceania, which usually has a single outrigger.

" What If " on the outrigger system one aluminum post were to side into a larger post on the other side bring both floats right to the hull ? great video !!!
@bobcary77804 жыл бұрын
The closer to the Yak the less stability, the farther out they are, the greater the stability. 24 inches out works great. Against the hull may make no difference

I liked this a lot, thank you. Perhaps I am missing it, but could you write what the pontoons are and/or where you found them? I know not what they are, nor where to look for them. Again thanks
@bobcary77804 жыл бұрын
In addition to the description below of the pontoons, they can be bought anywhere that sells crab pot buoys or floats that are bullet shaped
@bobcary77804 жыл бұрын
Several people have asked how I made the outrigger stabilizers. They are 7 inch diameter bullet shaped crab pot floats about 14 inches long. They come with a hole through them. Before glueing them butt to butt I slid PVC tubing through them putting a Tee in the middle upside down with a vertical PVC pipe that connected to a 4 way tee at the top as you see in the picture at the top of the float. I then glued 90 degree elbows on either end of the pipe running through the floats, then a short pipe, and another 90 degree elbow as you see in the picture. The adhesive I used was Home Depot yellow insulation in a can that is adhesive. I used a spakle blade to smooth the adhesive into the joint in the middle where the two ends of the floats butted together. You can use cardboard. From the 4 way Tee in the middle at the top I ran a short pipe into a 90 degree elbow that slides over the 3/4 inch aluminum tube. I drilled all the way through that PCV white elbow and aluminum tube sliding a quick release pull pin into it so I could install the float and release it when done. The aluminum tube slides through brackets and is held in place with a pin that has holes in it that goes thru the 2x6 and a quick release pin slides through one of the holes to hold it in place. Lol I love the people that are like i what it to be quiet the sounds will scar the fish all I can say is my best days fishing I have had have all came with my speaker blasting music in the bottom of my sit in side kayak
@bobcary77804 жыл бұрын
Lol - I play a radio too but not blasting - as you know nature is naturally quiet very early in the morning (like you're out on the water and hear nothing) well, that's what nature is used to .. as the day grows and people come out in boats fish likely get accustomed to the loud noises of engines, radios blasting, etc. So during those time periods its normal BUT fish also know when it's supposed to be quiet .. interview a fish and you'll find out

Great video Bob. I have a Hobie proangler12 and I can tell you, your boat as fitted would be 10-12 grand and people would buy. You sir should be the consult for yak companies. Have you thought about getting an anchor stake out pole? I just got one and I love it. I got the 1/2" X 7', but would strongly recommend 3/4" X 9' for strength in current.... getting one asap. I'd like to rig mine up with some of those stabilizers so I can use the boat for future sailing design/build. No reason that 1/2" glass rod couldn't be used as a mast, right? Good luck on the water!
@bobcary77804 жыл бұрын
I use a collapseable anchor which I tie off on the cleats .. works just fine fits under the seat along with the rope
