Congratulations on the 500th!! I have watched every episode but not from the beginning, I don't very often comment but I always wave good bye at the end 😂😂😂 One thing I really like when watching your channel is the Stephen West knits, you was the first person I knew and saw to make one of his shawls. You inspired me to have a go myself, so thank you for that, I am currently working thru the honeycomb blanket. Here's to the next 500!

Hi Laura. First time here on your channel. I like your communication, especially re +/- gauge swatch. It almost hurts (not really) to do this, and I feel some resistance as knitting should just be pure fun, no? But it's dawned on me that sweaters are my next thing and it will actually save me time to knit for desired fabric. I do have a question: with doubling a yarn to use it with a larger gauge yarn, should I just knit with 2 strands or should I ply them together before knitting? Thinking of Superwash fingering wollmeise which feels like string while knitting but blooms slightly after washing. The best test is to check this myself, but I'm curious what others do. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Congratulations on your 500th episode! I’ve been watching your podcast for more than four years now, it’s my Tuesday ritual. I have no interest in quilting and initially thought I would loose interest in watching, but not at all - I enjoy your quilting adventures. The more multicraftual the better, right? Enjoy the holiday season! Suzana

Morning, Laura. 500 🎉 I have enjoyed your videos for a long time. Even have a skein of your hand spun yarn, which is mostly dark blue / green shades. I like to hear your enthusiasm about your new craft of quilting. I have been a 10 plus MSQ customer 😅. Congrats, well deserved! Janet

Your Clapotis looks perfect just as it is, unblocked. Sometimes we have to leave them like this for maximum squish! I especially love your quilt, it's going to be so cheerful isn't it? I started watching your podcast on Episode 10, and now you have reached 500! Well done you xx

What an eventful Thanksgiving you had! Glad Wes wasn't too unwell and had recovered quickly. You've made me look at Wool and Pine's Sorrel again and I'd never realised that their sample used four differently coloured skein with a single colour of mohair. I have so many single skeins that could do with using up, it will be perfect! Thank you!

Glad you had a safe and happy trip. We, too, once had our heat system go out (mother board) during a frigid weather time here in north Iowa. Space heaters helped immensely and we survived. 🙂

I'm not doing NaKniSweMo this year because of other knitting commitments (I know! 😩) so I'm really enjoying seeing the progress on your Askews Me. Those colours are wonderful, just perfect for brioche! I'm also pleased to hear that Zen Yarn Garden are closing by choice, it's always sad to see a good yarn company close, but as they have other things they want to do then I'm pleased for them.

I love that you matched your nail polish to Miles' socks! As soon as Mr Musk made an offer for Twitter I left. The writing was on the wall. And as for those asking you not to talk politics, you cannot avoid it. The result of this election will have global repercussions which cannot do the US or any other country any good. If you have a uterus or know someone with a uterus, if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, if your skin is not white, if you practise the 'wrong' religion, then life has the potential to be far far worse for you. Sending hugs Laura.

Great projects this week Laura! Knit strong (but safely!) to get you Mom's cardigan done. Fabric direction can be so tricky, can't it - when I'm dressmaking I try to avoid directional prints and also checks and thick stripes. Pattern matching is a nightmare. Lastly, this is just an fyi for either you or the shop, but TimTams are from Australia, not the UK!

Hubby and I go to a Halloween dance every year. Super fun and there are some great costumes. And it's on the Saturday before Halloween which is nice. My kids trick or treat but near their school. There is a loop road that pretty much everyone goes to that goes around the school.

So Sorry the tendonitis is still a problem. That sucks. We are having a tea stash-down here as well. We're down to just the Rooibos now, which Steven says "tastes like silage" but since he's the one who insisted we 'get rid of all this tea we don't drink' he'll just have to suffer :)

Laura I have been having the same experience this year. Knitting decrease and having to pick up other crafts to fill the time. Quilting and embroidery are the crafts of choice. Right now I have 2 monthly subscriptions for embroidery quilt blocks. The modern herbalist and Jaye’s bouquet. Finishing up my 4th quilt top for the year. Pattern called Migration. I didn’t have to go to physical therapy but I was in a brace for a few months. Slowly getting back into my knitting. Show us whatever you are working on. So many of the crafters I know have multiple craft hobbies. I enjoy all of it.

Laura, for your forearm may I suggest some KT tape, a tens unit, and or/cbd cream. These are all great support treatments for tendinitis. Maybe ask pt if they can do some ultrasound on arm also? Good luck and good for you that you are going to knit for you for a while. I make gifts about every other year as I feel like I want to. lol

Thanks so much! I'm already using KT tape and CBD cream at home, and we've been using the ultrasound at the PT.

Thank you for the update on your health Laura. I had rsi in my wrist a couple of years ago - aggravated by knitting, as well as a few months of tennis elbow - so I can sympathise with your plight. We need to look after ourselves, not only physically but mentally too, so that we feel fulfilled and content. Your love for working with the City Girl Farm shines out of the screen so I'm not surprised you've decided to continue to work with them. I hope your plans lead to a recovery for your arm muscles and tendons!
