Laura I have been having the same experience this year. Knitting decrease and having to pick up other crafts to fill the time. Quilting and embroidery are the crafts of choice. Right now I have 2 monthly subscriptions for embroidery quilt blocks. The modern herbalist and Jaye’s bouquet. Finishing up my 4th quilt top for the year. Pattern called Migration. I didn’t have to go to physical therapy but I was in a brace for a few months. Slowly getting back into my knitting. Show us whatever you are working on. So many of the crafters I know have multiple craft hobbies. I enjoy all of it.

Laura, for your forearm may I suggest some KT tape, a tens unit, and or/cbd cream. These are all great support treatments for tendinitis. Maybe ask pt if they can do some ultrasound on arm also? Good luck and good for you that you are going to knit for you for a while. I make gifts about every other year as I feel like I want to. lol

Thanks so much! I'm already using KT tape and CBD cream at home, and we've been using the ultrasound at the PT.

Thank you for the update on your health Laura. I had rsi in my wrist a couple of years ago - aggravated by knitting, as well as a few months of tennis elbow - so I can sympathise with your plight. We need to look after ourselves, not only physically but mentally too, so that we feel fulfilled and content. Your love for working with the City Girl Farm shines out of the screen so I'm not surprised you've decided to continue to work with them. I hope your plans lead to a recovery for your arm muscles and tendons!

You could look at Crabapple Hill quilt patterns for some inspiration. They specialize in combining embroidery in quilts. Your lavender piece came out beautiful. I love the colors you came up with.

Apparently the Jetstream which brings warmer weather to the UK and Northern Europe in the summer has moved and we've had north winds bringing down air from the Arctic. Which explains why in June I'm typing this at 7.45am wearing winter pyjamas, a wool cardigan with the central heating on! Probably explains the grey weather in California! Your summer tee is beautiful, as is your embroidery. It's fun to learn new crafts and techniques isn't it!

For my cross stitching I use a qsnap when I stitch as it gives me great tension. But I also add felt between the clips and the fabric, both for the tension but also to protect the fabric :)

I love the spring loaded embroidery hoops. When I put the hoop on my fabric is taught enough so no need to pull on the fabric. I do put my fabric on opposite or backwards of the way you hooped your sunflower. Thankfully there’s tools for everyone so we can all enjoy something crafty. 🪡

lmao, i just promised myself i wasnt going to start any more new projects this week, and ten I see that garter stitch scarf you made and yup that now needs to happen here. It looks so good and a great way to deal with some random single skeins of worsted I have. Thanks for the inspiration!. Now for the important question is your arm getting better? or at least not getting any worse, tendonitis is a big thing to deal with. Jocelyn

Hahaha. They're perfect TV knitting... just knit knit knit! And perfect for using up scraps. Thanks for asking - my arm is better, but it's not back where I was. It still gets tired easily and I stop ahead of it hurting. Guess I'm just waiting it out.

@@thecornerofknitandtea It is great for scraps and given i put all my worsted scrap into a large plastic tote and it didn't all fit (I have much scrap yarn to use up). As far as healing goes I have never found the process to be fast which always frustrated me a little. I am glad its getting better.

My suggestion with the ornaments would be to put them away for now. Maybe work on a few more embroidery projects and come back to them. I do find marking my lines does help a lot, but having more proficiency with the craft might make a little difference in your enjoyment of the process too. And if you come back to them and still don't love it, then you know for sure it's not for you. My friend has loaned me an e-spinner, and I've only spindle spun a little bit. So I'm thinking I might give it a go over Tour de Fleece. That gives me a good reason and a timeframe to actually try it.

I dealt with tennis elbow a couple of years ago. And if it makes you feel any better, i have almost no problems now. I get little twinges sometimes, but i just make sure to mix it up craftwise for a couple of days and I'm good to go. It did take quite a while to get to a point of no pain though.

I think it's lovely how you are developing your sewing skills and obviously enjoying the ride! My sympathies about your arm and wrist, I had to wear my wrist in a brace night and day for a few weeks a couple of years ago as I had rsi on the side of my right hand. The pain is so sharp isn't it? I hope everything gets better steadily and you can resume 'normal' service!

Looking forward to seeing that crocheted rug. I’ve made one out of multiple strands of worsted weight yarn held together but I’ve always wanted to repurpose old clothes to make one out of fabric.
