Thanks man. I need to figure out a genset starting this week for a mag setup I bought at auction. It came with a baldor 15kw Dc generator. Baldor said the rule of thumb is 2hp per kw. I see you’re running what looks like around a 5-10hp engine which is why I asked. Maybe you made up for it by gearing it down with your pulley selection? I really like your setup and it looks like it worked well.

How big is the magnet you are going to run with it? That is what will determine how much hp you need.

48” brother. This setup ran for years on another machine. They used a belt from the engine to make it happen. I’m about decided on using the 22hp vtwin predator 670cc engine for this project. @@Pete01507 Tonight I'm going to try a higher ISO on its own without long exposure - when I set the camera to Night and set a long exposure time, setting the ISO isn't an option, it's grayed out - it uses ISO 80. I just tried an experiment where I do a 15 second long exposure in a dark room allowing ISO 80, and a normal picture with ISO 6400, and the ISO 6400 was brighter. So I'll try that tonight.

The magnet I'm testing it with is a 15 ohm so it only draws just a little over 15 amps at 230 volts.

I don't know the details. Sorry it took me 7 years to answer but I lost track of this channel until recently. I was just test shooting so the owner could hear how quiet it was.
