I would love to do a democratic China run but alas the early game is really an entire slog as China. It also seems like holding China together is a ton harder in 1.7 than it was in previous patches--I've seen two Qingsplosions already and that's two more than I ever saw previously. With that having been said, I'm hoping China gets a national flavor patch/DLC soon and if it does I'll definitely do a run.

It means that in game terms you can leverage losing a war to strengthen your Petite Boureogisie, who are the interest group most likely to form a fascist party, assuming you've got Political Agitation researched.

Thanks! I will say that I fix the government sector wages issue eventually once the gold mines get underway. As far Togo, I've kind of given up on it since I realized there was no expansion opportunity there that wasn't blocked behind fighting a great power in a war. I'll probably trade it to someone else eventually just to clean up the borders. The fact is, I'm so used to being at Laissez-Faire that I think I've been undershooting construction to my own detriment for awhile now. There's definitely a point where I make a definitive effort to correct my construction capacity issue and actually start using my massively overloaded investment pool but it's going to be awhile yet before I get my stuff together on that.

Yeah it's hard, I never feel like ports output as many convoys as they say they're gonna. I'm not saying it's a bug, just that it always feels like it's going to be more when I expand ports or upgrade production methods or something.

I'm on the higher level of machinery and they don't have the qualifications in Togo where I've got my only sulfur mine.

@@degencatgaming9250 I was talking about the sulfur mines in Togo (i belive they're there). You usually incur in shortages in sulfur as the mine cannot hire people cause I belive they are not qualified enough. The production method is an advanced one: maybe if you revert back to picks and shovels (or whatever the basic method is called) the requirement for qualified workers decreases. After all, it is better to employ the people there and have a steady output of sulfur at a lower rate than none at all because the mine cannot find qualified workers.

@@DiegoCisbani Oh yeah I eventually head to other areas for that. I own so little of Togo that getting enough pops to work the mine is unfortunately not feasible.

Yeah I think there's a bug with garrisons where I garrison an army in the area Great Britain is naval invading but for some reason Great Britain is able to land unopposed anyway. It's not great.

I'd definitely like to try a run to unify Iberia eventually. I think I'll probably only do that in this run if I get a really solid opportunity. My main ambition in this run is to form the United Kingdom of Portugal and Brazil, reunifying my historical empire, while at the same time developing a highly-urbanized, highly-industrialized European Portugal with a ridiculously high standard of living, buttressed by lots of labor-saving production methods and a huge upper stratum formed of the owners of industries all across the empire. I haven't done a "tall" build in a long time, so this is going to be a challenge for me, but we'll see how it goes!

So, the short version is that cultural enclaves tend to stay small. People of any culture that's accepted will assimilate to any primary culture that exists in the same state as long as the state isn't their homeland. As an example, if Hausa people immigrate to Georgia, they'll be accepted because they share a heritage trait with Afro-American, one of the USAA's primary cultures. This means they'll assimilate into being Afro-Americans, because the majority primary culture in Georgia is Afro-American. However, if they immigrate to New York instead, they'll assimilate to being Yanks, because Yanks are the majority primary culture in New York. If they live in the great state of Hausaland, though, they won't assimilate, because Hausaland is a Hausa culture homeland. Similarly, the Dixielanders living in Georgia won't assimilate into being Afro-American even though Dixie is an accepted culture, because Georgia is a Dixie culture homeland. Pops who are discriminated will never assimilate, hence why I try to maintain native American subject states where those peoples can live as Primary Culture pops. But assimilation is percentage-based, so no matter how fast assimilation happens, a cultural community will never fully assimilated, even if no new immigrants of that culture are arriving from abroad.

Also I made a huge explanation up there but I just read Thursday's dev diary and discrimination is getting a rework in 1.8, they're gonna add tiers of acceptance for each culture based on which traits they share with the primary culture and what the citizenship law is, so it sounds like we'll be on a fast train to nuanceville whenever 1.8 drops.
