The hdi is comparable to a new aurora spec wise so you got a lot of machine for 5g.

@Horsenb Oh for sure. It's still a top of the line machine for its age. It was definitely worth the 800 I put into it for the restoration.

They are great machines. I just can't stand the Kohler engine.
@MakeItGreatAgain55Ай бұрын
@reloadnorth7722 they come with Briggs engines also. For these machines with an enclosed engine, liquid cooled is the way to go, though.
Great job! Really like your front chain tensioners.
@MakeItGreatAgain55Ай бұрын
@jimsuebateman2763 I've been running it over various terrain and hitting top speed on my neighborhood gravel country roads, and the chain tensioners have exceeded my hopes when I made them. I'll post a video soon of it in action as well as the front chain tensioners.

I restored several Argo 8x8s and 6x6s. This 750HDi is one of the newest models I've done. The Admiral transmission is an improvement for these machines. I still have some more work to do on it with a complete roll cage and wench mount.

It's a super nice ARGO! The amount of labor put into it shows!! 👍
My son bought this beat up and neglected 2004 Argo Avenger 700 8x8 and got it in shape enough to use it before we do a frame out restoration on it. These Extreme Terrain Amphibious Vehicles are the ultimate ATVs!

How much did you pay for this
@MakeItGreatAgain552 ай бұрын
@Dimwit55 $4500 down from $6500 he was asking. It needs a full frame out repair and restoration with new parts. It runs great but it needs new parts to be 100%. Currently it's at 70%.

Working on an abused and neglected Argo 8x8 to Make it Great Again is definitely a worthwhile cause. These used Argo 750HDi still typically sell for $13k - $15k.

i think you want those brake/steering disks to float to minimize wear and tear on that system
@MakeItGreatAgain552 ай бұрын
I couldn't find any references in the service manual or discussion forums about them needing to be loose. There's no reason to allow the rotors to be so loose when the brake pads inside the calipers float. If anything, going off how loose mine were, I would be concerned of excessive wear on the rotor disk spines or the shaft spines. Why would they want the rotors on the Admiral transmission to "float" but not in the Gen 1 or classic transmissions? Is there a binding issue on the steering brakes if the rotors don't have some wiggle to them?
@DirectorFrisch2 ай бұрын
@@MakeItGreatAgain55 oh, right, the calipers float
